Episode 144: Dr. Maggie Abraham of The GYN Space - Orlando, FL

Episode 144: Dr. Maggie Abraham of The GYN Space - Orlando, FL

Meet Dr. Maggie Abraham, a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist holding the prestigious American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) specialty certification in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Trinity College Dublin in Ireland.

Her journey continued with a rigorous obstetrics and gynecology residency at Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences University in Buffalo, New York, followed by a specialized fellowship in pediatric adolescent gynecology at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Abraham's commitment to advancing her knowledge led her to obtain a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation from the University of Louisville.

Dr. Abraham is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the North American Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She has contributed significantly to these organizations, serving on various committees, including the ACOG Adolescent Health Committee, for over a decade.

Originally from Ireland, Dr. Abraham relocated to the United States in her early twenties, following her American boyfriend, a decision she considers the best she's ever made. After training in four different states, she and her husband settled in Orlando, Florida, along with their four children and beloved dog, Odin.

Her passion for pediatric and adolescent gynecology blossomed during her tenure as a young attending at the University of Florida. Dr. Abraham witnessed countless teenagers and college students seeking help for gynecological issues that had long been overlooked. This experience shed light on the unfortunate lack of awareness surrounding gynecological conditions in adolescents, leaving them suffering without proper diagnosis or treatment.

Driven by a desire to make a difference, Dr. Abraham dedicated her practice to addressing the unique gynecological needs of young people. Before establishing the GYN space, she enjoyed a fulfilling clinical practice for over 12 years.

Dr. Maggie Abraham is here to provide expert care and support for pediatric and adolescent gynecological concerns, ensuring a brighter and healthier future for young individuals.

Episode 143: Dr. Peter Cashio of Code 1 Concierge Care - Austin, TX

Discover the journey of Dr. Peter Cashio, a dedicated emergency medicine physician, and advocate for veterans' health. Born in Louisiana and raised in Houston, Texas, Dr. Cashio's path to medicine was shaped by his early years as a U.S. Marine Corps intelligence analyst, stationed in diverse locations such as Virginia Beach, Virginia, Okinawa, Japan, and Camp Pendleton, California.

After his honorable service in the Marine Corps, Dr. Cashio pursued a passion for biology, earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000. He continued his academic journey, achieving a Master of Science in Developmental Biology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, UT Houston, in 2005. Driven by a desire to make a difference in patient care, he embarked on his medical education at UT Health Science Center, San Antonio, ultimately becoming a licensed physician.

Dr. Cashio's commitment to excellence in emergency medicine led him to complete his residency training at the prestigious University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2012. He is proud to be recognized as board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

In his medical practice, Dr. Cashio firmly believes in the importance of listening to his patients. He follows the age-old adage that "listen long enough, and the patient will describe their diagnosis." This patient-centric approach forms the cornerstone of his care philosophy, allowing him to provide personalized and compassionate healthcare.

Dr. Cashio's professional interests encompass a wide range of medical fields, including preventative care, men's health, pain management, and critical care. However, he holds a special place in his heart for veterans' healthcare needs and is dedicated to serving those who have served our country.

Outside the office, Dr. Cashio balances his life with a passion for powerlifting, a pursuit of aviation knowledge, and a flair for writing. With his family residing in Dripping Springs, he finds inspiration in the beauty of his surroundings.

Experience healthcare from a physician who understands the value of time and the importance of each patient's unique story. Dr. Peter Cashio is here to support your health journey, combining expertise, compassion, and a commitment to your well-being.

Episode 140: Dr. Phil Hellman of Paradox Health DPC - Rochester Hills, MI

Episode 140: Dr. Phil Hellman of Paradox Health DPC - Rochester Hills, MI

Episode 140: Dr. Phil Hellman of Paradox Health DPC - Rochester Hills, MI

Dr. Philip Hellman is a family medicine physician in Rochester Hills, Michigan. He had no family in medicine, but for him, the path to becoming a physician made the most sense. He went on to Grand Valley State for his bachelor’s and then followed with the MSU College of Human Medicine to attain his MD. He did his residency in Greeley, Colorado at North Colorado Family Medicine. His training there was excellent and is owed in large part to an exceptional group of mentors and faculty on staff there.

With his wife, Dr. Hellman relocated to Silverton, Oregon for his first job out of residency in the Summer of 2016. Although they cherished their time there, they made the tough decision a year later to move back to their family in Michigan where they felt they were being called. That year and a half of work in the healthcare industrial complex opened his eyes even further to the deficiencies of modern healthcare. Its clunky, bloated, and mis-incentivized structure was not something that excited him. He always felt terrible when a patient would get a large medical bill despite paying large insurance premiums or was told the most effective therapy for their malady was not an option.

In March of 2018, he decided to form Paradox Health and start taking part in the DPC model of health care. It is something he thought about since his first year of medical school, and ultimately what he had always wanted to do. It just took the right prodding, and the right people to tell him he wasn’t crazy.

He currently resides in Rochester with his wife Chelsea and their four children: Merritt, Luella, Hattie, and Hannon.
