FINALLY! CBI SPEAKS on Iraqโ€™s Rising Dollar Hereโ€™s What It Said

FINALLY โ€” THE CENTRAL BANK OF IRAQ HAS SPOKEN. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ’ต https://www.myfxbuddies.com/2026/09/finally-cbi-speaks-on-iraqs-rising.html As the dollar continues to rise in Iraq's local markets, the Central Bank of Iraq has issued a direct statement addressing what's happening. And the CBI is making an important claim: Iraq has sufficient foreign reserves to meet foreign-currency demand. So if the Central Bank says there are enough dollars available, why is the dollar exchange rate continuing to rise in the local market? According to the CBI, the increase is being driven by: ๐Ÿ”น Market speculation ๐Ÿ”น Expectations about future exchange rates ๐Ÿ”น Geopolitical conditions in the region ๐Ÿ”น Actions by some parties benefiting from the current situation The Central Bank also emphasized that it continues to finance legitimate foreign trade through approved channels and says it has the capacity to meet demands related to foreign trade, bank-card settlements and travelers seeking cash dollars at the official rate. But there's an important distinction here: The CBI is NOT announcing a change to the official exchange rate. Instead, it is addressing the rising prices in the local market and explaining its view of what is causing the gap. In this video, we break down the Central Bank's statement and look at what it could mean for: ๐Ÿ’ต The Iraqi dinar ๐Ÿ’ต The parallel dollar market ๐Ÿฆ Iraq's banking system ๐Ÿ“Š Exchange-rate stability ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ Iraq's economy ๐Ÿ’ฐ Foreign-currency liquidity And perhaps most importantly: If Iraq has enough dollars, why is the market price still rising? We'll walk through what the CBI actually said and separate the official statement from speculation about what could happen next. IRAQI DINAR: Dollar Nears 160,000! What Is Happening?

The Iraqi dollar market is moving higher again, with the parallel-market rate in Baghdad approaching 160,000 Iraqi dinars per $100. My FX Buddies Blog On Thursday morning, September 17, Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya exchanges opened at approximately 158,850 dinars per $100, up from 157,250 at the start of Wednesday's trading. At Baghdad currency exchange offices, the reported selling price reached approximately 159,250 dinars per $100, while the buying price was around 158,250. And the increase has been building. On September 12, the rate was around 156,350 dinars per $100. On August 19, it was approximately 154,600. So what is behind the latest move? The article points out that determining the direct cause requires additional official data and indicators, including: ๐Ÿ’ต Demand for cash dollars ๐Ÿฆ Remittance flows ๐Ÿ“ˆ Speculative activity ๐Ÿ’ฑ Conditions in the parallel market ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Monetary and regulatory measures The important distinction is that this article is discussing the parallel-market exchange rate. It does not report a change in Iraq's official exchange rate. The big question now is whether the parallel-market rate will cross the 160,000-dinar-per-$100 level โ€” and whether monetary and regulatory measures can narrow the gap between the official and parallel markets. ๐Ÿ‘‰ Subscribe for continuing Iraqi dinar, Central Bank of Iraq, banking, exchange-rate and Iraq economic news. ๐Ÿ’ฌ What do you think is driving the latest dollar increase โ€” cash demand, speculation, dollar availability, or something else? No More Paper Iraqi Dinar? Iraq Expert Reveals Radical Plan

Could Iraq eventually move away from paper currency altogether? https://www.myfxbuddies.com/2026/09/iraqs-radical-dinar-proposal-abolish.html A new proposal from Iraqi economic expert Safwan Qusay is putting an extraordinary idea into the currency and banking debate: instead of removing zeros or simply issuing larger denominations, Iraq could move toward electronic payment cards and eventually eliminate paper currency. Qusay argues that Iraq has approximately 106 trillion dinars issued, with around 40 trillion inside the banking system and more than 60 trillion remaining as cash outside it, according to the figures cited in the article. His proposal would give citizens time to deposit their cash savings into the banking system, with electronic payments eventually replacing paper-money transactions. He argues that this could help identify and bring back buried, stolen, smuggled, or otherwise undocumented funds. The proposal also includes a controversial idea: closing Iraq's borders during the transition to prevent Iraqi currency held outside the country from remaining in circulation. But is this actually happening? No decision like this is presented in the article as an announced Central Bank of Iraq policy. This video examines the expert's proposal, why he believes it could address Iraq's liquidity problem, and how it fits into the country's much broader banking and currency-reform debate. ๐Ÿ’ฐ Is Iraq's real problem the currencyโ€”or the huge amount of cash outside the banking system? Iraqโ€™s Dollar Dinar Gap at 25,000 CBI Claims a New Strategy?

Iraqโ€™s Central Bank may be preparing another major step to narrow the gap between the My FX Buddies Blog link official dollar exchange rate and the price being charged in the parallel market. According to sources cited by the Independent Press Agency, the Central Bank is considering measures to create a more disciplined and unified dollar-selling price through licensed exchange companies and authorized outlets. And one figure is getting attention: 1,320 Iraqi dinars per dollar. But what does that actually mean? The article makes an important distinction. The reported move does not mean the Central Bank is changing the official exchange rate. The CBI has previously denied reports of an official rate change. Instead, the reported strategy would focus on getting dollars through official channels to the end user at prices much closer to the established official levels. At the same time, the parallel market has been trading dramatically higher. On September 14, the article reports Baghdad exchange shops selling $100 for approximately 157,000 dinars, compared with approximately 132,000 dinars for $100 at a 1,320 rate. That's a gap of roughly: 25,000 dinars per $100. So what is the Central Bank actually trying to accomplish? In this video, we break down: Why the CBI wants to narrow the dollar gap What 1,320 actually represents Why this does NOT currently mean an official exchange-rate change The CBI's tighter oversight of exchange companies Why access to legitimate dollars is so important The enormous difference between the official and parallel markets Whether stronger official channels could put pressure on the parallel market What this could mean for Iraq's banking and currency reforms The bigger question is no longer simply โ€œWill the official rate change?โ€ It's: Can Iraq make the official financial system competitive enough that citizens and businesses no longer need the parallel market? As always, we'll separate what has actually been announced from what is being reported or considered. Thanks for Watching! The Dinar, Oil Money & the Dollar: Iraq Faces a Major Financial Test

Could changes to Iraqโ€™s relationship with the US Federal Reserve put pressure on the Iraqi dinar? https://www.myfxbuddies.com/2026/09/big-warning-for-iraq-could-losing-us.html New warnings from Iraqi economic experts are raising important questions about what could happen if Iraq were to move away from the current US financial protection surrounding its oil revenues and reserves. The experts quoted in this report say Iraq could theoretically manage its oil revenues and reserves without American protection, but they warn that a sudden transition would be extremely risky under current conditions. And this isn't simply about moving Iraqi money from one bank to another. It involves the global dollar system, correspondent banks, international trade settlements, foreign currency liquidity, oil revenues, and the Central Bank of Iraq's ability to manage the exchange market. One expert warns that the greatest risk may ultimately be felt through: ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ The Iraqi dinar ๐Ÿ’ต The exchange market ๐Ÿฆ Iraqi banks ๐Ÿšข Import financing ๐Ÿ“‰ The official/parallel exchange-rate gap ๐Ÿ’ฐ Iraq's oil revenues The article also raises an important alternative: rather than suddenly abandoning the dollar system, Iraq could gradually expand relationships with European, Asian, and Gulf banks, increase the use of other currencies in trade, and strengthen Iraqi banks and their correspondent-banking networks. But experts emphasize that simply making a political decision to move away from US financial protection would not be enough. Iraq would first need to build a credible alternative financial system. We'll break down what these warnings actually mean, why the dollar remains so important to Iraq, how this could affect the dinar and exchange market, and what a gradual transition could look like. โš ๏ธ Important: This report discusses expert warnings and potential risks. It does not mean that Iraq is currently removing US protection from its funds or that a specific dinar event is guaranteed. If you're following Iraq's banking reforms, oil revenues, exchange-rate developments, and the future of the Iraqi dinar, subscribe and follow along. ๐Ÿ‘ Like the video ๐Ÿ’ฌ Comment below: Do you think Iraq should gradually diversify away from dependence on the dollarโ€”or would that create more risk? IRAQ'S BANKING REVOLUTION: IRAQ Has 81 Banks... So Why Are So Few Known Globally?

IRAQ HAS ABOUT 81 BANKING INSTITUTIONS... BUT WHERE IS ITS GLOBAL BANKING POWER? https://www.myfxbuddies.com/2026/09/iraqs-banking-revolution-iraq-has-81.html Iraq has a large number of banks and financial institutions operating inside the country. According to this report, the banking network includes government banks, local commercial banks, Islamic banks, foreign bank branches, and representative offices. But the big question isn't simply: How many banks does Iraq have? The bigger question is: How many Iraqi banks are actually capable of competing on the international stage? The article examines the gap between Iraq's large number of banking institutions and its limited presence in major global banking rankings. According to the report, Iraq has approximately: ๐Ÿฆ 8 government banks ๐Ÿฆ 24 local commercial banks ๐Ÿ•Œ 31 local Islamic banks ๐ŸŒ 16 foreign bank branches ๐Ÿ“‹ 2 representative offices That brings the total to approximately 81 banking institutions and representative offices. Yet having dozens of banks does not automatically mean having dozens of internationally competitive banks. Major global banking rankings look at factors such as: ๐Ÿ’ฐ Capital strength ๐Ÿ“Š Assets ๐Ÿ“ˆ Profitability ๐Ÿฆ Deposit bases ๐ŸŒ International reach ๐Ÿค Correspondent banking relationships ๐Ÿ”’ Governance and compliance ๐Ÿ“‰ Balance-sheet quality The article also points to Iraq's banking-risk environment and compares Iraq's position with stronger regional banking systems. This raises an important question for Iraq's ongoing banking reforms: Could Iraq's next phase involve fewer banksโ€”but larger and stronger institutions? As banking reforms continue, Iraq may face increasing pressure to strengthen capital, improve compliance and governance, expand international banking relationships, and potentially merge or restructure weaker institutions. In this video, we're breaking down: ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ Why Iraq has so many banks ๐ŸŒ Why relatively few have major international influence ๐Ÿฆ Why the number of banks doesn't necessarily equal banking strength ๐Ÿ”„ How mergers and restructuring could change Iraq's banking map ๐Ÿ“Š Why international correspondent banking relationships matter ๐Ÿ’ฐ And what a stronger banking sector could mean for Iraq's broader economic future ๐Ÿ‘‡ Do you think Iraq needs MORE banksโ€”or FEWER but STRONGER banks? Iraq's New Dinar Plan? Changing the Currency Could Target 100 Trillion Dinars Outside Banks

IRAQ'S DINAR IS CHANGING?! My FX Buddies Blog After weeks of headlines about removing zeros from the Iraqi dinar, a new report suggests that the discussion may be moving in a completely different direction. According to a report from 964 Media, discussions involving members of Iraq's Parliamentary Finance Committee are reportedly focusing on changing the current Iraqi currency and issuing a new series of banknotes rather than removing zeros. The potential goals being discussed are much bigger than simply printing new notes. A currency replacement could potentially be used to: ๐Ÿ’ต Replace worn-out banknotes ๐Ÿ”’ Introduce stronger security features ๐Ÿšจ Remove counterfeit currency from circulation ๐Ÿฆ Bring cash held outside the banking system back into banks ๐Ÿ“Š Better monitor Iraq's circulating money supply ๐Ÿ’ฐ Encourage large holders of cash to open bank accounts and document the source of their funds The report says that more than 100 trillion Iraqi dinars may currently be outside the banking system, held in homes, businesses, and circulating through Iraq's cash-based economy. One proposal reportedly being discussed would make the exchange of large amounts of old currency subject to additional banking procedures, potentially including opening a bank account, depositing the funds, and verifying the source of the money. Amounts reportedly being discussed could involve cash holdings in the range of approximately 100โ€“150 million dinars, although the article stresses that these details have not been finalized. This could make a future currency exchange about much more than changing the appearance of Iraqi banknotes. The bigger question may be: Could Iraq use a new currency to bring part of its enormous cash economy back into the banking system? And just as importantly: Is this replacing the idea of removing three zerosโ€”or could both discussions eventually lead to different stages of monetary reform? In this video, we're breaking down what this new report says, what appears to still be under discussion, and why the distinction between a currency replacement and a currency revaluation is so important. โš ๏ธ Important: No official implementation details, timetable, or final mechanism described in this report should be treated as confirmed until formally announced by the competent Iraqi authorities. ๐Ÿ‘‡ What do YOU think? Would a currency exchange bring more money into Iraq's banking system? Or could it create confusion in a country where so much cash is currently held outside banks? Economists Stress need for a "Reform Revolution" And the Citizen's Demand Their Rights

After nearly 20 years of delays, Iraq's Oil and Gas Law may finally be https://www.myfxbuddies.com/2026/09/economists-stress-need-for-reform.html moving back toward the center of the country's political and economic agenda. For years, disagreements over the management of Iraq's oil wealth have contributed to disputes between Baghdad, the Kurdistan Region, and oil-producing governorates. Now, members of Iraq's Parliament and the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee are signaling renewed efforts to move the legislation forward during the current parliamentary session. The Oil and Gas Law could create a clearer legal framework for: ๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ Managing Iraq's oil and gas resources ๐Ÿ’ฐ Distributing oil revenues ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Defining the powers of Baghdad and producing regions ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ Addressing long-running disputes with the Kurdistan Region ๐Ÿ“ˆ Attracting international energy investment ๐Ÿฆ Supporting Iraq's federal budget and financial stability ๐Ÿ’ต Increasing hard-currency revenues flowing into Iraq's financial system Experts quoted in the report argue that Iraq's economy depends heavily on oil revenues and that the absence of a comprehensive federal law has contributed to years of uncertainty and disputes. Supporters believe passing the law could help provide a more stable investment environment, clarify the management of oil fields and exports, and potentially encourage international energy companies to expand their involvement in Iraq. But there is still one major question: After almost 20 years of political disagreements, can Iraq finally pass the Oil and Gas Law? โš ๏ธ Important: The law has not yet been passed. Current reports describe renewed political and parliamentary efforts to move it toward legislation. https://tinyurl.com/godhastheanswers ๐Ÿ“Œ Disclaimer: This video is for news, commentary, and educational discussion.
