Tanya highlighted her involvement in infectious disease research and her current project on testing and treating hepatitis C in the community, particularly among marginalized populations. She also discussed her role in a multinational trial testing a new drug for gonorrhea and how she bridged the cultural gap between different stakeholders. He discussed the challenges of the immigration process and his career progression from San Antonio to MD Anderson. His initial  work in neurosciences and oncology, specifically using functional MRI techniques, was interrupted by a break from career to care for his son and led to an exploration of non-clinical roles, including completing a program from Harvard Business School. This episode emphasizes the need of developing a mindset towards taking risks and being open to opportunities due to globalization and exposure to different cultures. In this episode, I talk to Joanna Kingsley and Emill Levasseur from the Dominican Republic  Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Emill and Joanna pursued their dreams of becoming physicians, but they didn't meet until 2013, on the day they started as Internal Medicine residents at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx, NY After completing their training in New York, they married in 2016 and relocated to Florida to work as hospitalists. Emill became the Chief of Medicine and Medical Director of the Hospital Medicine Program, while Joanna became a core faculty member of the new Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency Programs. This year they founded Impact+Capital, a syndication company to assist other physicians in investing in real estate with a social purpose. Joanna and Emill are in the process of relocating to be near family in Dallas,TX with their 3 young girls (youngest is in the interview if you watch on YouTube).
