    During this episode, we speak with Steven “Zo” Goodson, Head Men's Basketball Coach at Rhode’s College. Coach Zo has a long history within collegiate athletics working with Hall of Fame coach Tubby Smith. 
    Coach Zo brings our first NIL POV from a basketball program. He discusses the entrepreneurial spirit of his players and the potential business opportunities that NIL may provide. He speaks on the importance of life skills training, including money management. Coach Zo also reveals how several of his players are taking advantage of new opportunities.
    Coach Zo emphasizes the importance of using NIL opportunities to connect with and give back to local communities. He shares his thoughts on national and state legislation. 
    We talk about some of our favorite Nillies from the past few weeks, including the deal between the University of Florida quarterback, Anthony Richardson, and Gainesville Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. We also discuss the University of Tennessee’s John Fulkerson’s pledge to donate $1 for every point scored by the Vols this basketball season.

    The NIL compliance team at VicTreeFi attended the NCAA’s Special Convention and we have published this special episode to cover the convention. On November 15, 2021, the NCAA held a meeting with member institutions to discuss the NCAA’s proposed draft constitution. This new constitution is shorter than the existing constitution, emphasizes the importance of involving student-athletes in governance, and contains language supporting student athletes’ ability to profit from their name, image, and likeness.
    During this episode, we break down the draft constitution and discuss concerns raised about its content. We also learn about the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and its role in crafting the new constitution.

    During this episode, we speak with Kassandra Ramsey, a sports and entertainment attorney. She is the founder of The Law Office of Kassandra Ramsey and The Esquire Coach. She also serves as the Sports Law Chair for the Washington, D.C. Bar’s Arts, Entertainment, Media, and Sports Law Community. Kassandra has written an e-book on NIL (The NIL Era - What College Athletes Need to Know).
    Kassandra discusses her journey into the NIL world and the tools and education that she believes will most benefit student athletes as they take advantage of NIL opportunities. She discusses the importance of understanding trademarks and the legal implication of NIL opportunities and legislation. She provides a few suggestions on influential people within the NIL world, such as Darren Heitner and Kristi Dosh.
    She also talks about past decisions based on NIL opportunities that student-athletes have had to face, such as the University of Central Florida’s Donald De La Haye and his YouTube channel, Deestorying. She discusses her experience in writing a speech for George Wrighster that was presented to Congress regarding student-athlete rights.

    On September 30, 2021, the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce of the Committee on Energy and Commerce met to discuss college athletes' rights to their name, image, and likeness. We watched this session and, on this episode, we discuss what was covered. 
    During this meeting, Executive Director Ramogi Huma from the National College Players Association, Mark Emmert President of the NCAA, Linda Livingstone President of Baylor University, Jacquie McWilliams Commissioner of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, and Cameron March the golfer and app developer from Washington State University provided testimony to the Committee.
    We follow the discussion around creating Federal legislation and providing clear guidance to student-athletes.  We give our take on what this means for student-athletes and collegiate programs.
