Episode 13: NAME CHANGE as an ADULT

It takes a special kind of bravery to change your name as an adult, and it's a conversation that needs to be had.

I'm joined by Kate, a mental health advocate from @thehippodcast, to talk about her journey and process of changing her name after the year the name Karen felt cancelled after a lifetime of feeling disconnected from her name, and the guilt that comes with that.

If your name doesn't feel like home, this discussion may resonate with you.

I NEEDED THIS

The adult name change episode was exactly what I needed. I’m struggling so much with my name. Have been for… forever. But I felt super alone in that struggle. Listening to this episode seriously felt like a hug. Thank you so much for validating my feelings and giving the guidance I needed.

Left me breathless

I stumbled on Alix’s IG through some very amazing people I follow. Then I found her podcast and I thought I would give it a try. I didn’t know what I was expecting, but all I can say is wow. Her explanation of why naming your child a Jr or 3rd is a great thing and not something we just settle for was incredible. We are in charge of changing the perception of that name. We make it our own. I too wish I had my grandmother’s name attached to me so I can remember her every moment when my name is said. I can’t wait to listen more. Thank you Alix for you and I can’t wait to drink coffee with you again!
