S1 E8 Long Overdue Update

It's been almost exactly 2 months since selling my home in Camarillo and moving to a place I never imagined. I did it! I bought land, deed and all! 2.7 acres in Willow Springs right next to the racetrack and Edwards Air Force Base. The climate is similar to Texas but mostly my hometown of Sandy Utah which is funny because "Sandy"? ha! now I get it lol. it's a desert and the climate is harsh. But, I not only have faith, I have hope. I want us all to have hope. No matter how small that seed is, plant it. Ignore the critics because they will always be there, for time and all eternity, ignore them. Let's Grow Together

S1 E7 Isaiah Trammell - MURDERED

This should be headline news and no one is talking about it. In Montgomery County Ohio, ELEVEN police officers MURDERED a disabled man and their superiors laughed it off like it was a joke. If they say otherwise, ask them how those murderers were punished. Nothing is being done.

You can't blame someone for defending what's left of themselves. Did you ever play that game in grade school called King of the Mountain? you know the one where everyone starts at the top of a hill and whoever is left standing at the end wins! You just keep pushing everybody off until you're the last one there. It's kind of the opposite in our world. It's like me and Jacob are at the top of this mountain and family and friends are surrounding us and it just starts to crumble all around us. I am angry.

S1 E3 Humble Understandings: How far we need to go

We acknowledge mental illness and autism. As a human species, we have made progress! I suppose we don’t have things called “insane asylums” anymore, or do we? When a mother, wife, woman expresses her grief and/or opinions and thoughts in a manner that freaks everyone out around her, we don’t call her delusional or hysterical anymore, right? When you’re at the grocery store with your 28-year-old, mostly non-verbal son, and he begins screaming obscenities in the middle of the chip aisle, and not only flailing his arms wildly but is now just trashing the entire row of nicely organized food items on the shelves all while insulting every lucky person to cross his path in that moment. When a concerned citizen calls the police to intervene and they show up only to be confronted violently by this man, him spitting in their face and telling them he’s going to kill them. Nowadays, the police have training to be able to recognize the signs and are much more capable of handling such a situation. Right?

It’s time, it’s way past time we start paying attention to the things we all rely on but never truly acknowledge. Not in the sense of studying it, or controlling it, but rather understanding it. I don’t know how many people are diagnosed with depression each day, but I know it’s a lot. I’m going to go out on a limb here, because that’s the whole point of this and ask, what is depression? Have you ever seen it under a microscope? The nurse swabs your cheek and sends it to the lab. Your doctor calls you the next day with the results, “yep. It’s depression.” Take 20 mg of Lexapro every day for life. And I can up the dose or add something to it if it’s not enough.” This episode tackles the “reasons” and “causes” of ASD.

S1 E1 Facebook Groups

Why is it so hard for us to share our honest group posts publicly, to our personal pages? If one of our children were sick, needing hospitalization or treatment for a serious medical condition, we would absolutely share this to our personal page. So why don’t we? This is the biggest, most consistent theme in this little world I live in. "Nobody understands" are the 2 most spoken words from everyone I’ve come across that lives this life of parenting or caring for, an adult on the autism spectrum. I hear it in the under 16 groups as well but, most of them still have the public school system which is a help but also comes with its share of struggles.
