EP143: LinkedIn Series Pt. 2: Why you shouldn’t use ChatGPT to write your profile.

Sure, using a fancy AI tool like ChatGPT to write your LinkedIn bio might sound like a fun idea, but it may not be best to rely on it entirely.

Mostly because it's probably not going to show off your personality or unique tone. Plus, it might use incorrect language about your industry or under/over sell your experience and qualifications.

We're fans of using it for brainstorming and idea generation, or for getting a rough draft. But be careful putting all your faith in a robot *beep boop*
While it may be tempting to use a tool like ChatGPT to generate a LinkedIn profile quickly, it's essential to understand the potential drawbacks and why you should avoid relying on these tools.

More about that on this episode of The NerdBrand Podcast.

EP141: The rules of advertising. There are regulations.

EP141: The rules of advertising. There are regulations.

Happy new year! On our last episode of the NerdBrand podcast for 2022, you’ll learn there are rules to advertising. And hear about  why we say, everything is an ad.
If you have Netflix, go watch Pepsi, where’s my jet? But not now.
First, let’s talk about the rules of advertising. Not philosophical ones. The ACTUAL rules.
Not all content you see is an advertisement for a product. A brand’s name being used in a film, TV, or SNL skit doesn’t mean that’s an ad. But as a brand, you have to treat it like one. Because the audience assumes it’s an ad.
A Peleton product appeared on a Sex and City episode. In one scene, a beloved character on the show died (fictionally) shortly after riding it. That character's death led to a 4% drop in stock value. But it was not an ad!

Nonetheless, because it was PLACED in the shot, it was assumed to be by the audience. Not even Ryan Reynolds could save the situation with his tongue-in-cheek ad showing the actor and product.
The Pepsi and the fighter jet fiasco is another example we'll talk about.

EP140: Happy New YEAR 2023 - The rise of voice search

EP140: Happy New YEAR 2023 - The rise of voice search

New year, new you? On this episode of the NerdBrand podcast we’re discussing who the hell types a search anymore? It’s the rise of voice search.
Welcome to the NerdBrand podcast, on this episode we’re talking about new year promises we aren’t keeping. But we want to take a look at voice search and how to prepare for it.
Google reports that 41% of adults and 55% of teens now use voice search daily.
Voice search is Siri, and all the scary Skynet bots that you have in your home and on your phone. More people are using voice search to search the internet for what they need. So much advice for this is out there, but the biggest one is your audience. Do you know who you are wanting to sell to?
Target question keywords and other long-tail keywords.Use conversational language in your content. If you need help with this you are not human.Prioritize local SEO. Cause what is near me??Try to capture Google featured snippets. You must have GOOD content.Use schema markup, yeah, it’s for the bots.Optimize for mobile, we really have to say this in 2023?Support the showABOUT NERDBRAND

EP139: Brand Influence, FTX brand made you look.

EP139: Brand Influence, FTX brand made you look.

On this episode of the NerdBrand podcast we’re discussing why brand influences on this episode of the NerdBrand Podcast!
Welcome to the NerdBrand podcast, on this episode we’re talking about why brand influences using FTX and some online social media influencers as an example.
    Attention is Currency.
For your brand, you have to have a strategy to capture attention. With emphasis being getting people to “look over there”, it’s crucial to have something for them to look over there and see. Not just fancy or fun content, but quality and memorable content.
    FTX  and Influencers.
This is the example and focus of this episode. FTX was a crypto exchange that failed - due to blatant criminal activity. This is not about blame. But how a brand attracted billions of investment because it was perceived as “trustworthy” and fresh. Moreover backed by social media influencers taking sponsorships, producing content pushing that message out to an audience.
