Excellent

Without a doubt, one of the most challenging and thought provoking podcasts on iTunes. Whether you are someone familiar w left literature/ discourse or your just trying to make sense of the world and feel like there is something missing in the predominant narratives around race and capitalism, this is a program that approaches things in their totality and facilitates a dialogue that we so desperately need. Perhaps my favorite thing about the show is that it really is a project. The host, Michael Dawson (a great thinker and researcher) approaches each episode not just as a platform to interview/ spotlight scholars in the field, but as a way of evolving and developing further an analytical framework around Racial Capitalism. As you go from one episode to the next, you can really hear how he is evolving his already formidable analysis by integrating the research and perspectives of past guests. He also maintains a great website filled with essays and other reference materials regarding race and capitalism. Inspired by the show, I recently ordered a number of the books that are frequently referenced by authors like WEB Dubois and Cedric Robinson. Just getting my hands on these books was a challenge. I went to the Strand in nyc and they had nothing on my list. One of the top bookstores in the world with a large black studies section. They hadn’t had a copy of Black Reconstruction since 2009! As I went down the list of books, I could tell the person at the counter was amazed and embarrassed that they had non of the titles mentioned. Thank you to the people involved in making this show, it truly is an invaluable resource!🤯🙏
