If finalized, the newly proposed standards would lower the baseline efficiency requirements through the end of this decade to levels achieved years ago.  In response to this breaking news, CALSTART Federal Policy Director Levi Kamolnick issued the following statement:  "This proposed change to the CAFE program would pave the way for a future dominated by more fuel-intensive vehicles. CAFE standards have saved an estimated $5 trillion in fuel costs for American consumers and served to help spur innovation and technology. Further improvements are possible and needed since transportation is still the second highest expense for a typical American household, and higher fuel expenses increase costs for businesses."  Read the full statement here.          ⚡🚛 On December 3rd, Mass Fleet Advisor hosted an informative session with Massachusetts Business Network (MBN), an educational and community-based platform that provides resources, a business directory, and networking opportunities for organizations and professionals across Massachusetts.  Mass Fleet Advisor, a free program helping fleets across the Commonwealth plan and implement their transition to electric vehicles, discussed how businesses can assess whether electrification is right for them, what funding opportunities like MOR-EV Trucks can mean for their bottom line, and how to map out a long-term plan that saves money while supporting a cleaner Massachusetts.   This webinar replay video explores the tools, insights, and resources that Massachusetts businesses need in order toto think ahead and take full advantage of the financial and environmental benefits of going electric.   Watch the Webinar Replay  New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program Webinar Replay                    ⚡🚛 NYTVIP recently held two informative webinars on scrappage requirements and utility engagement, and the recordings are available to support zero-emission vehicle planning, ensuring fleets and manufacturers make the most of the New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program (NYTVIP). Best in Business list within the Best in Innovation category, featuring technology that drives meaningful results in the industry. This recognition highlights the company's strategic execution of its battery energy storage system (BESS) rollout. Electrify America uses BESS to facilitate hyper-fast EV charging in grid-constrained locations. The system stores energy during low-usage periods to later supplement during times of high demand. This load-balancing capability allows the network to install Hyper-Fast chargers where traditional infrastructure serves as a bottleneck. It ensures consistent service delivery regardless of immediate grid limitations. Electrify America currently operates more than 170 BESS units nationwide representing over 65,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of installed energy storage. This infrastructure reduces strain on local electrical grids, shortens deployment timelines for new stations, and expands charging accessibility for a wider range of EV drivers.    Autel to Help UAE Electrify   Autel and Emarat EV Charging Stations Company (UAEV) have finalized a strategic Memorandum of Understanding to develop the United Arab Emirates' EV charging infrastructure. The agreement was formalized during a visit by UAEV delegates to Autel's global headquarters in Shenzhen. The partnership aims to address specific mobility needs within the UAE, including Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) interaction and battery-energy storage systems (BESS). Joint research and pilot programs will help optimize solutions for the national network. UAEV is currently executing a nationwide rollout plan with plans to install over 1,000 high-speed DC chargers by 2030. This initiative relies on the integration of adaptive and robust charging ecosystems, which is a pillar of Autel's international platform.            New Podcast Episode: A-Z Bus Sales on Driving Clean Transit   John Landherr, CEO of A-Z Bus Sales, a CALSTART member company, joined host Jared Schnader on his Transition to Zero podcast to talk about the technologies and operational strategies shaping the shift to zero-emission buses.  Tune in here!       Upcoming Webinars:     Zeroing in On ZEBS: Advancing Zero-Emission Transit Through Uncertainty   December 9th at 9:30 AM PT / 12:30 PM ET  U.S. transit agencies continue to advance zero-emission bus deployment despite supply chain pressures, constrained manufacturing capacity, and evolving federal funding conditions. Audio:  https://open.spotify.com/show/5tLFTApN7Rz6e9XryEaR77?si=bf7873cbe4854a5f   https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/newze/id1797582892  https://sites.libsyn.com/563770    This week's content: Nov 10th, 2025    Electric Amazon Deliveries in Canada and the UK  Amazon and Rivian have introduced the first fleet of Rivian Electric Delivery Vans (EDVs) in Canada, with 50 vehicles deployed in Vancouver for package deliveries. Amazon has a goal of 100,000 Rivian EDVs on the road by 2030, with over 35,000 already in operation boasting 1.5 billion packages delivered. Rivian worked closely with Amazon delivery drivers to develop the vehicle, implementing 360-degree cameras for driver safety and energy-saving microclimate seats for all-weather comfort.   "Decarbonized transportation is a huge part of Amazon's goal for net-zero carbon emissions across operations by 2040," said Emily Barber, Director of Global Fleet and Products. "It's partners like Rivian that make this goal feasible."   Across the pond, Amazon UK's delivery fleet has announced the arrival of new electric trucks and vans, expected to help carry 300 million products annually, traveling a combined distance of over 11 million milkes. The Mercedes-Benz Truck eActros 600 vehicles will be adopted by Amazon's carrier partners, helping run packages between fulfillment centers, sorting centers, and final delivery stations. The eActros 600 can travel over 300 miles between charges even when carrying heavy cargo. Additionally, over 800  Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vans are set to be deployed in the UK over the next few months, ensuring deliveries remain fully-electricfully electric right up to the customer's door.      ABB and Greenlane Tackle Load Management   Greenlane Infrastructure's electric truck stop in Colton, CA currently offers 40+ high-speed chargers with a maximum power of 400kW. Once fully finished, the site will offer 60 chargers—, and it is the first of four planned sites along a 280-mile charging corridor between LA and Las Vegas. To sustainably tackle this energy load, Greenlane has been working closely with ABB to implement a supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA), as part of a broader energy management system (EMS) that safeguards grid stability and enables remote operation and monitoring. The SCADA system allows for remote operation to control and monitor a series of low-voltage (LV) circuit breakers and medium-voltage (MV) switches, an uncommon advantage among typical EV charging sites. When energy demand exceeds the limit, the SCADA system helps initiate a load shedding scheme to keep the site alive by shutting off certain chargers. If the power draw of the Colton site exceeds power limits set by the local utility, it could be disconnected from the grid, which makes careful management crucial to its reliability and continued success.      Eaton Introduces Fast-Charging Solutions in UK and Europe   Eaton has launched new EV charging models for the UK and Europe, expanding options for customers integrating infrastructure into electrical systems. Through a partnership with ChargePoint, the new DC 30 and Duo chargers are aimed at reducing costs and helping manage site power requirements. The DC 30 is designed for roadside, fleet, and destination charging, while the Duo model can be mounted on walls, floors, and ceilings in compact spaces like driveways and garages. Both models can be installed indoors or outdoors and feature dynamic load balancing, with remote upgrades and issue resolution capabilities. The chargers form part of Eaton's Buildings as a Grid strategy, which transforms buildings into energy hubs using on-site renewable generation. Focused on Mmanufacturing products for an array of industries, Eaton focuses on electrification and digitalization trends across its power management solutions.        An Interview with Harbinger Motors     Progress happens when we meet governments and industry partners where they are. ALSO is creating Transcendent Mobility technology, starting with the TM-B (Transcendent Mobility – Bike), Consumer TM-Q, and Commercial TM-Q. The TM-Q variants share a largely identical drive system to the TM-B with release dates yet to be announced. The bike features a new pedal-by-wire drivetrain called "DreamRide" developed in-house, which allows the rider to pedal a generator, which replenishes the battery. Offering up to 100 miles in range, the removable battery offers USB-C fast charging up to 240 watts. As a Class 3 e-bike, it has a pedal-assisted top speed of 28mph and regenerative breaking, which could extend range by 25%. The TM-B can be preordered now for $4,500 with delivery slated for spring 2026. and a spring 2026 delivery, Awith a $4,000 edition is expected to launch later next year.       WattEV Unveils Solid-State Transformer   Last week WattEV unveiled a Solid-State Transformer (SST), a compact medium voltage power conversion system (MV-PCS) designed to accelerate deployment of MCS fast chargers. The MV-PCS was developed as a replacement for step-down transformer, switchgear, and low voltage rectifiers. The new system is designed for convenient installation on service islands between pass-through lanes, offering megawatt charging to MCS-capable trucks. Unlike conventional 480-volt systems, the integrated design simplifies components and reduces installation costs by having the medium-voltage line split via junction boxes and connected directly into the liquid-cooled SST cabinet. The SST offers a practical, cost-effective solution for deploying megawatt infrastructure, helping stations come online faster and scale predictably. WattEV has completed its proprietary SST design and expects units to be available in 2026.   Pennsylvania's Charging Achievement   Earlier this month, Pennsylvania opened its 20th EV charging station at a Sheetz in Pittsburgh using federal funds from the National Electric Vehicle (NEVI) program. PA now leads the nation for the most chargers built using NEVI funds—and representing a total federal investment of approximately $11.5 million.     "CALSTART congratulates Governor Josh Shapiro and PennDOT for being the first state in the nation to receive a Full-Build Certification," said Alissa Burger, Regional Policy Director, CALSTART.     This certification means the Commonwealth can now move beyond the initial phase of the NEVI program that focused on building charging stations on the core network of interstate highways; now allowing the state to launch the next phase of spending, the Corridor Connections program. The program as initially outlined by PennDOT will be a $20 million funding opportunity. It that is expected to support more than 1000 miles of major roadways to strengthen long-distance travel outside of previously designated Alternative Fuel Corridors.         Oakland Zero-Emissions Showcase + Ride & Drive  November 5 | Oakland, CA  CARB and CALSTART invite you to join us for an exciting event bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, fleet owners, OEMs, dealers, and the public to explore the latest advancements in zero-emissions technology and transportation solutions.
