The Horror in the Hold and Two Other Stories of Revenge | Podcast

A mutinous Spaniard slithers into the shadow-soaked hold of an English ship with powder, vengeance, and heresy on his tongue. But in the stinking dark beneath the deck, blades whisper, loyalties bend, and something far worse than steel seems to be waiting. Originally published in Weird Tales in February 1932, The Horror in the Hold captures everything readers love about early pulp horror: salt-stung realism, eerie supernatural undertones, and the creeping dread that Frank Belknap Long perfected. The Black Chapel by Anonymous (published April 1936, Terror Tales) A story of revenge from beyond the grave. The stories that appear in TERROR TALES are sometimes based on the theory that physical death is not necessarily the end of a human entity, for, whatever one may happen to believe, it is hardly questionable that strange and eerie things do occur, occasionally, which cannot quite be accounted for by material explanations. Strange Tales of Mystery and Terror (Jan. 1933) by Anonymous Headless Ghosts - retelling of famous English ghosts known for having lost their head while alive. Host - M.P. Mrs. Lorriquer | Henry S. Whitehead | Podcast

Mrs. Lorriquer is a short story by Henry S. Whitehead, published in Weird Tales in April 1932.  The narrative centers on a kind, courteous woman named Mrs. Lorriquer who is possessed by the spirit of a vicious gambler. This possession makes her hostile and unpleasant, particularly when she plays cards, serving as a supernatural exploration of identity and moral corruption.  Gerald Canevin is a fictional character created by Henry S. Whitehead for a series of supernatural stories. Most of the Canevin stories were published in fantasy-themed magazines such as Weird Tales and Strange Tales. In the series, Gerald Canevin is an American writer of supernatural fiction who spends most of his time in the US Virgin Islands, alternating between Santa Cruz (a.k.a. St. Croix) and St. Thomas. A recurring character in the Canevin series is Dr. Pelletier, a navy surgeon who provides scientific commentary on the fantastic events experienced while also showcasing a knowledgeable and open-minded attitude towards the supernatural. Spirits, deities, elementals, ghouls, magic rituals and psychic emanations are all real in the series.  Host - M.P.
