When "Following Your Heart" Leads You Astray: Happy vs. Blessed

In a culture that tells us "do more of what makes you happy," we often find ourselves exhausted, empty, and drifting. In this episode, we deconstruct the popular lie that the purpose of life is personal happiness. We dive deep into the biblical difference between being happy (a fleeting emotion based on circumstances) and being blessed (a fixed state of becoming like Jesus). If you’ve ever felt like "following your heart" led you into a dead end, this conversation is for you. We explore the reality of the narrow road, the necessity of self-denial, and the upside-down promise that true comfort is found not in our own rules, but in the presence of the Holy Spirit. In this episode, we discuss: Why happiness makes everything about us—and why that’s a problem. The danger of trusting a "deceitful heart" (Jeremiah 17:9). Understanding the Narrow Gate: Why the path of Jesus is tight but leads to life. The difference between temporary happiness and lasting Spirit-led joy. How God meets us as our Comforter in the middle of our discomfort. Scripture References: Matthew 22:37-40 – The Greatest Commandment. Matthew 7:13-14 – The Wide and Narrow Gates. Matthew 16:24-25 – Denying self and following Him. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 – The God of all comfort. John 14:16-18 – The promise of the Holy Spirit. Mentioned in the Episode: Links + more! 2. When "Knowing that You Know" Isn't Enough: Certainty vs. Doubt

When "Knowing that You Know" Isn't Enough: Certainty vs. Doubt

In this episode, we explore the heavy weight of certainty-based faith. For many of us, growing up in the church meant an emphasis on apologetics, debates, and having a "neatly tied bow" for every difficult question. But what happens when life hits—when suffering, loss, or intellectual questions arise—and that demand for 100% certainty begins to feel less like a foundation and more like a prison? We dive into the "shaking" realization that certainty and faith are not actually the same thing. By looking at the Great Commission in Matthew 28, we find a startling truth: among the disciples who stood before the risen Jesus, "some doubted." And yet, Jesus didn't shame them—He commissioned them. In this episode, we discuss: * The tension between high-pressure apologetics and the mystery of God. * How a "fear-based" pursuit of certainty can lead to isolation and deconstruction. * The difference between intellectual reasoning and biblical pistis (faith). * Learning to hold the "both/and" tensions of scripture without needing an immediate answer. * Why the Great Commission includes the doubters, not just the certain. If you’ve ever been afraid of "being caught not knowing," this conversation is a permission slip to breathe, ask questions, and find God in the mystery. Key Scriptures Mentioned: Matthew 28:16-20: The Great Commission and the disciples who doubted. Hebrews 11:1: Defining faith as assurance, not just physical proof. Ephesians 2:8: Faith as a gift from God. John 6:44: The Father’s role in drawing us to Himself. Mentioned in the Episode: Links + more! Don't Bury the Gift: A Guide to Kingdom Stewardship

In this study of Matthew 25, we look at the final instructions Jesus gave His disciples before the cross. Standing in the shadow of His prophecy regarding the destruction of Jerusalem, the disciples asked "When?" and "What signs?" Jesus responds with three powerful parables that shift the focus from when He is coming to how we should live while we wait. We break down the chapter through three distinct calls to action: *Be Prepared (Matthew 25:1–13): Through the Parable of the Ten Virgins, we discuss the necessity of personal spiritual readiness. Faith isn't something you can borrow or stumble into; it requires the intentional choice to keep your lamp lit. You can't get into the Kingdom on someone else’s oil. *Use What You Have (Matthew 25:14–30): The Parable of the Talents challenges our view of stewardship. Whether you have "five talents" or "one," God has entrusted you with specific gifts—knowledge, influence, and resources—to invest back into His Kingdom. We explore the historical context of Israel's leadership and the danger of "burying" what God intended for the world to see. *Treat Others Well (Matthew 25:31–46): Finally, we look at the Separation of the Sheep and the Goats. Drawing from the "bad shepherd" imagery in Ezekiel 34, we see that Jesus measures our faithfulness by how we treat "the least of these." True Kingdom living is marked by a love that refuses to gatekeep, gaslight, or ignore those in need. Key Takeaways: Following Jesus is an intentional life; it won't just "happen" without a plan. You have exactly what you need to start serving the Kingdom today. Our witness is found in our love, especially when it’s hard to give. You Haven’t Missed It: Finding Purpose in the Reroute

What do you do when the life you prepared for isn’t the life you’re living? In this episode, we dive into the first four chapters of Ezekiel. We find Ezekiel at 30 years old—the age he was supposed to begin his lifelong calling as a priest in the temple. Instead, he is 500 miles away, sitting by a canal in a land of exiles, wondering if his window of opportunity has closed. If you feel like you’re "stuck" in a season of exile or that your calling has been sidelined by circumstances, this bible study is for you. We explore the moment God shows up by the Chebar canal to reveal that a "reroute" isn't a "rejection." Inside the Episode: The 30th Birthday in Babylon: Why Ezekiel 1:1 suggests he was marking a milestone in the wrong place, but at the right time for God. Priest to Prophet: How God shifted Ezekiel's identity when the traditional path was blocked. The Weight of the Call: Processing the "scroll" and why the hardest assignments often require the deepest abiding. 5 Lessons from Ezekiel’s Calling: It’s not too late to be called. God determines the time, not your timeline. Your leadership isn't determined by your location. God isn't confined to a building or a "perfect" situation. You haven’t “missed it.” You are likely just rerouting. The calling is harder than you want it to be. High-capacity calling often comes with high-level resistance. You have everything you need. God provides the words; our job is to "eat the scroll" and abide. Scripture References: Ezekiel 1:1-3, Psalm 137:1, Ezekiel 2:1-7, and Ezekiel 3:1-3 Mentioned in the Episode: Links + more! The Tallest Man in the Room: A Profile of an Insecure Leader

What happens when a leader has the perfect "look" but lacks the internal character to sustain it? In this episode, we dive deep into the life of King Saul—the first king of Israel—to create a psychological and spiritual profile of an insecure leader. We often think leadership is about stature, resources, and public opinion. However, Saul’s story is a sobering cautionary tale that shows how a "scarcity mindset" and a fear of man can dismantle even the most promising calling. Whether you are leading a corporation, a non-profit, or a small group, these lessons from 1 Samuel are vital for anyone looking to lead with authenticity rather than ego. In this episode, we discuss: The Luggage Principle: Why the most prominent person in the room is often the one hiding. The "Strong Man" Trap: How insecure leaders use the strength of others to mask their own weaknesses. People Pleasing vs. God-Fearing: The danger of letting public opinion dictate your convictions. The Victim Complex: Why insecure leaders struggle with accountability and blame-shifting. Cultivating a Heart of Scarcity: How a lack of trust in God leads to manipulation and control. Key Scriptures Mentioned: 1 Samuel 9: Saul is chosen and anointed. 1 Samuel 13: The cost of rushing the process out of fear. 1 Samuel 14:52: Why Saul "attached" strong men to himself. 1 Samuel 15: The tragedy of partial obedience and the monument to self. Reflective Questions for Leaders: Am I currently hiding behind the strength or opinions of others to avoid making hard calls? When things go wrong, is my first instinct to take ownership or to find a "people" to blame? Do I have a "Samuel" in my life—someone who can tell me the hard truth without fear? Have You Seen God?

Have you ever had someone describe something to you, but when you finally saw it in real life, it was nothing like you imagined? Maybe it was a movie, a vacation spot, or even a person. We do the same thing with God. We hear about Him in chapel, we see Him on our feeds, and we talk about Him in small groups—but have you actually seen Him for yourself? In this special bonus episode of Go With God, Kaley breaks down John 1:18 and John 6 to tackle the question: How do we see a God who is Spirit? If you’ve been feeling like you’re just going through the motions, checking boxes, or "glitching" through your spiritual life while waiting for Spring Break, this conversation is for you. In this episode, we discuss: The Jesus Filter: Why Jesus is the only way to truly "see" the heart of the Father. The Miracle Trap: Are you following God for who He is, or just for the "free bread" (blessings/success) He can give you?The Hard Turn: Why many disciples walked away from Jesus when things got difficult—and why Peter stayed.A Moment of Repentance: A guided prayer to help you lay down the things you’ve been hiding behind. Whether you’re skeptical, angry, or just plain tired, there is an invitation on the table today to stop looking at the crowd and start looking at the Son. Are You Missing the Miracle Because It’s Not the One You Wanted?

We’ve all heard the phrase "God always blesses obedience," but what happens when your obedience doesn't lead to the outcome you expected? If you’ve been following God’s lead but find yourself in a "wilderness" season longer than you planned, this episode is for you. Today, we dive into Numbers 9 to look at the Israelites’ journey one year after the Exodus. Even though they were following the Cloud and the Fire—the literal presence of God—their path to the Promised Land was anything but a straight line. We explore why God chooses the "long route," the difference between a transaction and a transformation, and how to keep obeying when the "blessing" looks like a refinement instead of a promotion. In this episode, we discuss: Why obedience isn't a "magic pill" or a transaction for a better life. The significance of the Cloud and the Tabernacle in Numbers 9.How God uses "wilderness years" to heal us from the "slavery" of our past. The danger of missing a miracle because it doesn't fit your timetable. What it looks like to live day-to-day in complete dependence on God. Scripture References: Numbers 9:15-23 and Exodus 40:34-35 Reflection Question: Are you frustrated with where you are because you're comparing it to where you thought you’d be? What would it look like to stop bringing your own plan to God and simply ask, "What would You have me do today?" Mentioned in the Episode: Links + more!
