    Nobody Special 174 | Seasons Changing

    The final episode of Nobody Special is now. Caleb and Danny have changing and shifting schedules as both of them enter into a new season in life. Danny had some progress in work opportunities that are taking a fair amount of time and Caleb recently got married to the wonderful Gracie. We talk about all the different changes in our life and then talk about trusting God through the changing of the seasons.  For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, ESV)  We are honored to be able to have served the Kingdom of God in this way for the past 4.5 years. Then we talk about Hallowee and what role demons play in the spiritual war we all face.  “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house swept and put in order. Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there. For all the violence and language it paints a picture of humanity and who we become when the pressure is on. As a Christian, we experience trials that demonstrate and refine our faith. How will we act in the face of selfish decisions and what would we do if we were in the Squid Games. “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.     Nobody Special 173 | Does Prayer Change God's Mind?

    Caleb and Danny answer a question from a listener! We talk about whether God’s mind is changed by prayer and if not, then why should we pray. Prayer is integral to the life of the believer but many of us seem to think that prayer dictates what God does. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.     Nobody Special 172 | Wars, Rumors, and The Matrix

    The Matrix dropped their trailer today. It seems to be about a world where no one can tell what is real or not and everyone just wants to feel better. So, nothing like today really. Also Danny and Caleb talk about Afghanistan and how this probably is not the end of the world. As we look for eternity, we need to anticipate the coming of the end but not worry about it.  “As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:3-14, ESV) We want to hear from you!     Nobody Special 171 | Happy Little Greedy Idols

    Netflix has a new documentary all about the business dealings of Bob Ross and Bob Ross industries. It tells the story of a man who just liked to paint. In the end, it turned in to this business empire with the image of Bob Ross being wrestled from the family. The pursuit of money can lead to a great number of sins and lead a person away from God as we pursuit this idol of status and wealth. But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.     In short, don’t spiritualize the the vaccine. Honestly, its infuriated and a problem on both sides of the aisle. Everyone seems to be either thinking the vaccine is our savior (its not) or the mark of the beast (also not). More than that, everyone seems to be driving the rift between members of the body of Christ further and further. On this episode of Danny Talks About, Danny looks at both sides of the argument and what we need to let go of in order to come together and maintain the bond of unity together.  I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
