    Intersectionality And Diversity In Mental Health

    Welcome back to the Normalization Station! For our final episode, Caleigh will be leading us in our discussion of how mental health affects various groups in unequal ways, as well as the need for extra support and representation in the discussion of mental health for those most affected. Statistics from the American Psychiatric Association and Mental Health America are used as guiding points throughout the discussion to invoke personal anecdotes. In said anecdotes, Caleigh, Jess, and Sarah reflect upon how their own identities impact their mental health, whether it be their sexual preferences, sexual identities, or race.

    Lack Of Resources Negatively Affecting Teens

    In this episode of the Normalization Station Jess leads the discussion on the correlation between a lack of resources and the declining mental health of teenagers. One of the biggest issues for high schoolers is knowing they have a safe space where they can be heard and feel validated. Listen in as we tell stories of our experiences in high school and find solutions to getting adolescents treatment and diagnoses.

    Expert Interview

    Hi everyone and welcome back to the Normalization Station! In this episode, we interview an expert in the field of mental health and secondary education, Mrs. Valerie Erb. She has been the teacher of Roseville High School's Peer Helping program for over ten years and has led countless programs involving mental illness with at-risk youth. During this interview, we discuss why this topic is important, how to effectively implement programs such as hers in a public high school setting or otherwise, and reflect upon Caleigh's own time within her class.     De-Stigmatizing The Discussion Of Mental Illness

    Welcome back to episode two of the Normalization Station! In this weeks episode, Sarah leads us in a discussion on the many reasons it is absolutely essential that we normalize and de-stigmatize the discussion of mental illness. Caleigh, Jess, and Sarah discuss the ways in which mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety can manifest as physical symptoms. The stigma surrounding open discussions of mental illness perpetuates the cycle of suffering, and to highlight this point Caleigh, Jess and Sarah reflect through a series of personal experiences and anecdotes.

    Getting To Know Us

    Welcome to the Normalization Station! This is a safe space where you can listen to three Sonoma State University seniors openly discuss mental health. Throughout the season we will discuss de-stigmatizing the conversation surrounding mental health, discussing solutions with an expert in the field, lack of resources for the younger generation who is struggling and much more. To kick off the season the three of us will discuss our personal journeys through mental health with our individual life experiences.
