On a mission to elevate and empower the nursing profession by highlighting "Nurses that Wow!" Devoted to sharing stories and resources for every nurse. Nurses that Wow! are individuals in nursing doing extraordinary things at all levels, in various specialties, from all backgrounds, and are making an impact. These nurses are making valuable contributions to the nursing profession, and field of health care. "Nurses that Wow!" exemplify the true value of being inspirational leaders, and champions of nursing--specific degree not required. By hearing their collective stories, struggles, and relevant topics important to nursing, it is my mission to inspire, and promote others to create their own wow moments in the future, and create a community of learning, growth, and support.

    The Future of Latina Leadership in Nursing & Healthcare

    Welcome to Season 1 of the Nurses that Wow! Podcast On this episode, we speak to Dr. Adrianna Nava, PhD, MSN, RN, who is currently a U.S. Latino Leadership Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School, where she is also a Mid-Career MPA Candidate. In December 2019, she obtained her PhD in Nursing and Health Policy from The University of Massachusetts Boston. She has a MSN in Health Leadership from The University of Pennsylvania and a BSN from Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing. Adrianna shares her passion about building the leadership capacity of Latino nurses and has served the Latino community in leadership roles within the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN). From 2011-2013 she was the NAHN Chapter President of Illinois; then the Vice-President of the NAHN Boston Chapter from 2015-2016; and a NAHN National Board of Director from 2014-2016. Most of her clinical and administrative nursing experience has been practicing within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), serving our nation's Veterans. Podcast On this episode, Adrian Espinosa, MPH, MS, RN, PHN, FNP-BC discusses his current practice as a Nurse Practitioner working in San Jose, California and the struggles he has overcome in his nursing journey. He also notes cultural implications of working with, and treating the Latinx community.  Adrian shares how fortunate he is to work with some of our most vulnerable populations via community and county health systems.  Adrian is the immediate Past President of the Greater San Jose Chapter of NAHN, national board member for the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, and President of the Supernova Foundation, a non-profit he co-founded eleven years ago.  Adrian's mantra learned by his Abuelita is "Un Dia A La Vez" (One Day at a Time).
