    Cystic Fibrosis

    Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition that affects the secretions in the body making them very thick. This can be a problem when blockages occur such as blockage in the pancreatic ducts affecting digestion, or it could also result to thickened respiratory secretions that can be hard to expectorate affecting one’s breathing.     Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD is a chronic condition affecting the gastrointestinal tract. At present, the cause of IBD is unknown however there are associative factors such as stress, genetics, environment, and dysbiosis of microorganisms. For each patient diagnosed with IBD, nobody really knows for sure what’s directly causing it so the aim in its management is to maintain the patient in a state of remission so that they can live comfortably, and the goal is directed towards improving the quality of life.     A Day in the Life of a Research Nurse

    Let’s talk about Skin Cancers

    According to the website skincancer.org, 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70. An increase in awareness in skin cancer is significant since the link between UltraViolet exposure and skin cancer is well established. A lot of people especially during summer holidays bathe in the sun for long periods not knowing that it could pose a risk in the development of skin cancer.
