    Support and Avoiding Burnout

    I had a request to discuss this topic! The key points in this episode are: make time for yourself and balance your life, do focused studying instead of trying to learn everything, prioritize studying information that focuses on client safety, share your workload, learn how you learn best, and find support systems for yourself.     FAST and SLOW version: Safety Checks, Vital Signs, and Head-to-Toe/Systems approach

    I recorded this episode twice consecutively. The first 18 minutes are the fast version of this episode with music in the background. After the 18 minute mark I re-recorded the episode speaking more slowly and without music in the background. I did this because different people learn at different speeds.     Confidentiality, boundaries, and NO NOs!

    Here are some general guidelines on maintaining client confidentiality, honouring nurse-client professional relationships and avoiding crossing boundaries. As well, I have included some “no nos”! I wanted to add that there are situations when caring for people that you know is sometimes unavoidable for example in a RURAL setting! There are exceptions to some of the things I have said in this podcast and if you are unsure about anything talk to your clinical instructor, your class instructors! What I have said here is my take and what I have learned. OOPS: I realize 1am is morning. 😂
