    8. Dungeons and Dragons and the Fear of Playing Pretend

In this episode, I come face-to-face with a fear I haven't felt since high school: role-play. After a semi-tragic high school experience, I'm afraid of playing pretend with others, and as a result Dungeons and Dragons may be my hardest challenge yet. But that won't keep me from finding out why 13 million people worldwide are obsessed with this game!

    7. Why Americans (and Everyone Else) Love the Royal Family

    7. Why Americans (and Everyone Else) Love the Royal Family

At first, royal family obsession seemed weird to me, but I went on a journey, on which I met a Hollywood reporter, two world record level royal family memorabilia collectors, and two average Americans who love the royal family. Now I understand royal family obsession, and I know the reason for it is anything but simple and anything but boring.

Crazy fun!

I loved delving into these worlds with this podcast. Beautifully produced and so much fun! I can’t wait to hear what the next obsessions are going to be!

Beats me

I don’t know why I listened to you podcast. I think I wanted another perspective on something I’m obsessed about- true crime. You kinda dissed my favorite show- Morbid. I think there are many reasons people obsess over crime. I had a pretty violent thing happen in my life at a very you g age. I didn’t have the coping skills to resolve it and I believe my obsession with man’ darker side is my way of unraveling what happened to me. It’s like finding out that injustice is a part of life and not being in control is scary (being a vulnerable victim). Hearing other people’s accounts is somehow therapeutic, albeit I hurt for them, too. I don’t wish misery or tragedy on anyone but as my counselor always said, “you have to feel to heal.” After listening to these podcasts, I feel a little less alone because my tragedy was never talked about, therefore, not processed until years later when I decided to go to counseling.
I liked the way you researched and investigated something you didn’t really understand. I think understanding is the key to living in a multifaceted world. You can’t hate what you understand.
Peace, Lee

So fun! And well-produced!

This podcast is an absolute must for anyone who likes to listen to people talk about the things they love. There’s so much joy in these interviews, and Cliff does a great job cutting together the highlights. Also, the sound quality is great and the editing is solid—which is really important to me personally. Overall a great listen that’s interesting, well-paced, and overall likely to put you in a good mood.
