Episode 104: Time To Say Goodbye

“What is that feeling when you’re driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? – it’s the too-huge world vaulting us, and it’s good-bye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies”. Jack Kerouac always had a way to capture a moment. And this is the moment, at the 2-year mark, to say goodbye.

    Episode 103: Keeping It Real

    Episode 103: Keeping It Real

Why do people buy? They believe that what you are selling is going to fulfill their need. And that's the key word...believe. For them to believe this fact, they have to trust. And in an industry based on artifice, to instil trust, nothing matters more than authenticity.

Episode 100: The Truths We Hold To Be Self Evident

Being a strategist is about delivering outcomes predicated on understanding and driving human behaviours and actions. It is about understanding who your audience is, how they think, what they want, and delivering a message that motivates them to take the actions you want. Yes, in order to do so, you need to understand how to align and manipulate digital tools to deliver the right experience to the right person at the right time. But at the heart of this is an understanding of people in all our glorious messiness.

Great Podcast for Digital Marketers

Nasser strikes a great balance between form and function with the Octopus Digital Strategy podcast. Digital strategy is something I typically view through a marketing lens so this podcast, along with Nasser's background, resonates pretty solidly with me.

Although I think nearly anyone who develops strategy in a digital context can benefit from his guests and insight. And you don't need a "digital" or "strategist" in your title to get value - concepts and insight is cross-functional and multi-disciplinary.

Regarding form, Nasser asks really good questions of his guests. His insight is backed by actual experience and is delivered in ways you can relate to your day-to-day. You can start from the beginning (back in early 2015) and learn the digital strategist role from the ground up. Or you can pick through the relevant interviews that Nasser arrranges with industry leaders across the spectrum of business.

If you still can't find a good place to start (there are nearly 80 episodes), go with Episode 10. Spoiler alert - I may have been a guest on the Octopus Digital Strategy podcast in its early episodes.
