    Onyeka Ehie's TikTok story time titled "The Danish Deception" has been a sensation spawning thousands of response and commentary videos. It is easy to understand why the story is captivating. A tall, handsome and wealthy Nordic man with a royal title, falls in love with a beautiful American woman and sets on wooing her by flying her across the world, sparing no expense in showing her a good time. Marriage is promised and they begin to plan for a future with a family of their own, in a beautiful home and a supportive network of family and friends around them. When she finds out who he truly is the story become equally horrifying. But the biggest mystery of all is why Onyeka seemed so willingly to believe this man when the relationship was so littered with flaming hot red flags?     If there is one thing that will define the last few years it's the slow march to a recession. All the red flags are there - 260,000 people lost their jobs in the first four months of this year, the government is seeking to eliminate tens of thousands more, big tech companies like Microsoft, Tesla and Meta are reducing their headcount on levels not seen since the financial crisis of 2008 and this just the beginning. To top it all off - we are also living through a period of high inflation, high interest rates and low economic growth.
