I went to grad school in Hawai’i and found the reporting here pretty spot on. It’s important to have an appreciation of the historic background to contemporary situations if we want to understand how and why different people react to the same incident. This is especially important in Hawai’i, which has a very different history from the rest of the USA.

Miss it. Hope more get made! Great show. Great listening over the years.

Offshore is a wonderful bridge between old and new, between where we want to be and where we find ourselves.

I loved the Maunakea season and grew up partially in Marshall Islands so that season hit my heart. Living on mainland most of my life with a dad from the lost generation, I’m so excited to hear this season about Hawaiian diaspora. Thank you for recognizing us who long for home but for so many reasons cannot return to live there. Edit: I just finished this season and cannot stop crying. I will forever be filling the Hawai’i shaped hole in my heart and though I hate this is such a common pain, I’m glad I’m not alone. Mahalo mahalo mahalo.
