    There is a version of the sex-work conversation that makes everybody behave like a malfunctioning politician: lots of moral language, very little honesty, and somebody quietly clearing their browser history. I did not want to make that episode. The Business of Desire is about the work, yes - the money, the safety, the boundaries, the business sense, and the hypocrisy. But it is also about what people are actually paying for. Often it is not only sex. It is attention. Conversation. Company. An hour in which somebody feels seen and does not haveto explain the life they are living. Years ago, a widower I will call Walter told me, 'You're not selling your body.
