Burt Carlson and Abe Garvin are usually friends, sometimes enemies, and always old men. These two fellas have seen it all, from Jesus Christ to trap music. Somehow, they got a weekly show with a local radio station where they can riff and tell stories with guests and yell at their intern (producer), Dustin.
Looking For Love In All The Wrong Podcasts - Mary-Alice McNab
Mary-Alice McNab met her husband during a podcast recording in San Francisco. Luckily, the perpetual bachelors, Abe and Burt, make it out of this show without tying the knot. She’s also got a one-person show, Sexodus, where you can “discover how this good Christian girl left the church to find her sexual freedom and landed in the marriage bed, still longing for liberation”.
Then we get a visit from Mary-Alice’s grandmother, also named Mary-Alice, who’s looking for a male suitor to take her to the country club.
Good Ol' Toys - Ali Mierzejewski
Ali Mierzejewski stops by the underground radio station to tell you how to stuff your stocking and stock your stuffing. She’s the toy expert, and don’t you forget it! Then we get a visit from Joanne Russo. She’s the pride and joy of the North Shore, but she’s struggling to marry off her daughter, Steph. Next week, Trap Music.
Call The Doo Doo - Micah Sherman
Our old friend, Tevin Campbell, stops by to talk about all manner of things. Mostly nonsense. This episode features the music of The Spin Doctors. The Spin Doctors and Tevin Campbell are friends of the show, they told me so just last week. Next week, trap music.
Have You Seen The Crow? - Andy Fitch
Our guest this week, is the world record holder for Most Time Consecutively Spent on the Staten Island Ferry. That’s right, we’ve got THE Gerald Crow on the radio. Unfortunately, those jerks at Guinness won’t corroborate this or any of his other records. What other records does Gerald Crow hold? Listen here and find out! Brought to you by Chesterfield cigarettes. Next week, trap music.
Arts & Farts - Kevin McNair
We’re back with Kevin McNair to talk about photography, music, and theatre (don’t you dare spell it “theater”). We touch on pretty much every musician, every music festival, and why you should never eat the brown acid. Then we welcome in Michael Governs III, a theatre director from Stratford, Connecticut who definitely DID NOT burn down the local Shakespearean theatre. No arsonists over here. Next week, trap music.
Unleash The Demon - Sonia Nam
Poinsettia Marbles is a multi-talented impressionist and ventriloquist. She can do spot-on impressionists of the greats. You know, Marcel Marceau, Al Roker, and Matlock. But watch out, she’s possessed by a demon named Asarof, with an “f”. You never know who you’ll get in this one. It could by Poinsettia, it could be Asarof, it could be a dummy named Linda, but never Sonia.
What happened to episode 14? Into the void, I suppose.
Please live forever
I hope Burt and Abe are still alive. I need more Old Man Pod, poddammit!
