Anand is a chemist and neuroscientist. He recently completed his PhD at Caltech, worked at Janelia Research Campus, and did his undergrad at the University of Pennsylvania.

As someone actively applying to PhD programs in neuroscience, this podcast has been a joy to listen to and learn from. I’ve known for a while now I don’t want to pursue academia following my PhD, and even though I know there are so many career opportunities for PhDs out there, it’s so nice to hear the stories and trajectories of people who’ve made it through the trenches.

Fantastic pod. Nick does a great job of asking pointed, insightful questions while still keeping the conversation lighthearted and entertaining. The long-form interviews are perfectly tailored to the background / job sector of the guest and are a thoroughly enjoyable listen—especially for those long afternoons at the lab bench :) Super helpful for learning about potential future pathways within and outside of academia for those of us early in our scientific careers.
