S2 Ep4 Do you really want to experience God? | Jeff Vines

We have a fresh, candid conversation about how to engage with those who voted differently than us. Regardless of how the votes stack up in the 2020 election, we must continue to love our neighbors and work to stay unified within the church.

FIRST LOOK | TAGGED
Do you know the real Jesus? It's easy to have the wrong idea of someone by the way others talk about them or what they're tagged in. A mistaken understanding of Jesus will dramatically affect the way we live our life, and a true understanding of Jesus will do the same. Everything we see about ourselves, the nations, pop culture, science, and even death has an explanation in Jesus's teachings. Join us in a discovery of the true identity of Christ and how it will change your life.
Conversation about race
While I believe Jeff is well intentioned and he is seemingly on a journey of understanding his own biases, privileges, and perspective, I think this particular episode would have been more effective if the host was a black man or woman, or if the hosts were willing to challenge Jeff with hard questions. It’s a lot of affirming what Jeff is saying, and not a lot of challenging. I hope that a podcast comes out or a sermon on sundays comes out where Jeff is interviewed or interviews someone of color, so that the VERY white congregation at One and All can hear the minority perspective.
No Clear Direction for this Podcast
This podcast feels like it has no clear direction. Topics jump from pastors talking about how they got into ministry, to reviewing their own song, to recapping messages. It’s like a box of chocolates, it’s pretty on the outside (great mixing and production with great people) but you never know what you’re going to get, and you’re almost never happy with what you get (just like the chocolates). On top of that, the length of each episode is all over the map. Who has time to sit and listen to random topics for over an hour? It’s obvious that there’s no clear direction for this podcast, but I hope they turn it around.
