BALDACCI: Gangbanger at 13, EFxFORT MUSIC, Meeting Estevan Oriol, Tattoos, & Family | Ep.181
BALDACCI, also known as “The Face of LA,” is a Mexican-American rapper from South Los Angeles' Florence District, whose distinct appearance of tattoos covering his entire body, including his face, tell a story of pride, family, and loyalty. When he was 13, Baldacci followed in the footsteps of his father, Big Sailor, by joining Florencia-13 (F13), LA's largest Latino gang. At 18, he was shot 5 times with an AK-47 semi-automatic assault rifle, and after 2 months in a coma, he went right back to the streets.
Our conversation unravels the fascinating aspects of his life, from his childhood growing up "on the block" of Converse Ave. immersed with gang life, surviving his near death experience at 18, and doing both State and Federal prison bids. We also explore his transformative journey into the music industry where he eventually started his own record label, The EFxFORT MUSIC, collaborating with Yelawolf, and his relationship with Estevan Oriol, an internationally known photographer who directed "LA Originals," a Netflix Original Documentary.

Ep.180. We took the blu door studio on a road trip to Nashville, TN! In today’s #OnTheStacks episode, I sat down with Warren Steury, a Master Mason of the West Nashville Phoenix Freemasons' Lodge #131. We take a deep dive into the myths and mysteries of Freemasonry, a fraternity often viewed through a distorted lens, despite its noble legacy dating back to the era of the Founding Fathers.
At 16 years old, he got caught up as a troubled youth, and subsequently, his parents enrolled him in a wilderness rehabilitation program, where he spent 83 days hiking and living off the land of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina with a small group of other juveniles and camp counselors, where he gained valuable life lessons.
Finally, we turned our spotlight on personal growth – the importance of having a code to live by. We talk about the role of daily reading and writing for personal development, and how these simple habits can bring clarity to one's thoughts. We also talk about the evolution of content length, attention spans in the digital age, and how reading and writing remain our distinguishing traits as humans.

Ep.179. We took the blu door studio on a road trip to Nashville, TN! This is the 2nd of 4 episodes from the #OTSroadShow. In today’s #OnTheStacks episode, Bill sat down with April Rose Gabrielli, a Billboard charting alternative-rock/pop singer, songwriter, producer & pianist. In 2020, she was diagnosed with epilepsy. The profound mental health effect of her diagnosis could've easily put an end to her music career, but instead, she used her diagnosis as a creative challenge to continue to pursue music, even writing songs and signing a publishing and record deal during one of her hospital stays. She developed aphasia, which caused her to speak backwards. She lost her short-term memory. Reading and speaking was very difficult for her. She had to relearn how to use computer programs and play piano. During our discussion of her incredible comeback story, we also talk about gender bias in the music industry, finding strength in adversity, and developing compassion for those with hidden illnesses.

Great Host, Awesome Approach, and Gets Real
I was fortunate enough to be a guest on On the Stacks. From a guest’s perspective, i was impressed with how thorough and prepared Bill was from the start. He explained how everything would go in detail and what i could expect during the podcast.
From there, it was anything but regimented. The conversation became real and authentic and i found myself opening up on topics that i hadnt been able to articulate publicly before. It became less of an interview and more of a conversation between two people just getting to know each other on a deeper level.
As a result of Bill’s ability to talk more personally with people on a deeper level, i feel like the listeners of his podcast get to know the guests in a different light beyond what they are sort of superficially known for in the world. He’s a talented conversationalist who has found his calling with this show.
Always learning new things
Such a broad and deep group of guests. Always learning new things and enjoy the unexpected history, insights, and laughter. The NEPA angle is fun for locals and non-locals alike (especially those of us that have spent time there). So many great episodes to choose from. Congrats Bill and team.
