#013 Turning Uncertainty into Advantage: Smarter Energy Decisions | Álvaro García Sánchez e Guillermo González-Santander (Baobab)

Rising demand from electrification and data centers, weather-driven renewables and batteries that link every hour to the next have turned energy operations into a web of high-stakes, irreversible decisions. Álvaro García Sánchez and Guillermo González Santander of Baobab argue that the scarce resource is no longer data or capacity but good decisions. From bids placed minutes before gate closure to 20-year investments, explicit optimization models turn hidden assumptions into something teams can test, audit and defend. Guests:Álvaro García Sánchez, Partner, Baobab.Guillermo González-Santander de la Cruz, Partner, Baobab.Host:David O´Keefe, Strategic Alliances, Gurobi.

#012 AI Agents, Optimization, and the Future of Decision Intelligence | Russell Halper (Insight Kitchen)

The conversation lays out a technology stack that is often blurred together — AI, large language models, optimization, and agents — and clarifies how these distinct concepts relate. It examines why organizations are investing so heavily in agentic AI and where optimization fits within that surge, while being honest about what AI still handles poorly, particularly large-scale numerical decision-making and complex mathematical trade-offs. It offers executives a reality check on AI investment, urging the same rigor applied to other projects and pointing to where returns are actually strong, including in optimization. Finally, it turns to people: how AI reshapes consulting and expertise, why judgment, context, stakeholder management, and leadership still matter, and why keeping humans in the loop — to guide systems, review outcomes, and manage risk — becomes more essential, not less, as the technology grows more capable and optimization enables mathematically sound decisions. Guest: Russell Halper, Founder & Marketing Director, Insight Kitchen.Host: David O´Keefe, Strategic Alliances, Gurobi.

#010 The Quality of the Decision: AI, Optimization, and Governance | Daniel Lazaro and Edson Bauer (Accenture)

Optimization and AI have become the basis of competitiveness, in a setting that demands deciding for profitability, emissions, safety, and efficiency at once. Generative AI has democratized access to once-specialized models, but also opened the door to "shadow AI" — informal use of tools outside official systems, with no traceability. The key lesson is to start with value, not technology: AI generates alternatives, but optimization chooses the best decision under real-world constraints. In an industry marked by strategic data, physical risk, and geopolitical exposure, trust must be built by design. Well applied, governance doesn´t slow innovation — it´s what earns the confidence to lead the energy transition. Guests: Daniel Lazaro, Market Unit Lead for Data&AI in Latin America, Accenture.Edson Bauer, Managing Director, Accenture.Host: David O´Keefe, Director of Alliance Americas, Gurobi.

#007 🇺🇸 How digital and AI foundations unlock smarter optimization? | Karan Gill (Nestlé USA)

The digital transformation launched in 2021 laid a solid foundation by centralizing data in a single data lake, ensuring quality, governance, and agility for more accurate analyses. On top of that foundation, optimization models were redesigned to cover manufacturing and distribution end-to-end, support 50% more analyses, and deliver three times more value. AI adoption has further accelerated progress, cutting prototyping time by up to 50% and supporting model formulation, scenario discussion tracking, and, more recently, explainability of results. Close partnership with functional stakeholders, with clearly defined roles and joint prioritization of the highest-value analyses, has been a decisive factor in consistent delivery. Finally, the combination of a Community of Practice, proven use cases, and a disciplined business-case approach sustains the scalability and credibility of the initiative. Participantes: Karan Gill, Head of AI for Supply Chain Optimization, Nestlé USA.Host(s): David O´Keefe, Director of Alliance Americas, Gurobi.
