Original Understudies

I don’t usually review… anything, really, but I thought I would show my support to Heaney & the gang, since he asked so nicely! I’ve been a huge fan of improv podcasts since I first found Spontaneanation way back when… Then, when that ended, I jumped onto Alchemy This, which eventually found a place in my heart. Then when THAT ended I found this spiritual sequel, and while I wasn’t a huge fan at first, I feel that you have really found your own voice and style, and I’m proud to say you have earned a permanent place in my heart now too, alongside the few improv greats! Thanks for continuing to bring the laughs, it is much needed! Don’t ever stop… I mean it. I will find you. Suggestion: Mozzarella!

I bought an iPhone simply to leave this review (8 refurbished so don’t get to excited), because of how great it is to have a continuous source of laughter like this show, the name of which escapes me. So glad to see a more balanced m/f ratio than on alchemy this, the podcast that this is the refurbished version of.

Like so many I mourned the shutting down of Alchemy This but YAY! for James Heaney and the entire Original Understudies crew. Nice mix of regulars developing! They are getting better by the week with their own format, just as likely as AT to cause belly laughs and higher dry cleaner bills due to snorting coffee or booze through nose while listening. Be warned.

If you’re like me, the end of AlchemyThis created a big lonely hole in my heart. Now The original Understudies has wormed it’s way in like a warm huggable parasitic worm. Give it a shot if you love great improv! I suppose I should throw out a topic suggestion? I’m sure I’m not the only one this has happened to. Have any of the understudies thought some fact was true and confidently told others about it, only to be proven wrong?
