    This webcast will discuss Alcohol Use Disorder.  This webcast will discuss Screening, Counseling, and Pharmacotherapy for Unhealthy Alcohol Use in Primary Care Settings. The presentation will define unhealthy alcohol use and alcohol use disorder (AUD); discuss the burden of unhealthy alcohol use in the United States; and review an evidence-based and practical approach to screening for and providing appropriate interventions for unhealthy alcohol use in a primary care setting. The presentation will incorporate relevant case studies that take learners through common clinical scenarios to demonstrate how screening, counseling, and pharmacotherapy for alcohol use disorder can be implemented in primary care. The learner will be guided through a sample workflow that demonstrates steps for the clinician to take following a positive screening result for unhealthy alcohol use in primary care. Learners will receive information on how to conduct brief counseling in the clinic for patients who have risky drinking behaviors, as well as how to provide evidence-based pharmacotherapy for patients with AUD. Brief video demonstrations of motivational interviewing techniques used in the context of counseling for risky drinking will be included in the presentation.

Lastly, they will learn about legislative efforts and non-governmental sources of aid and support for these survivors, in order to increase their chances of freedom and survival following their time in the life.
