Worrying is a Portuguese national past time

This is a unique episode in that our guest is Dr. Darlene Sousa and we talk about some of the more "taboo" topics in our community such as some of the anxiety and worry that plagues so many in our community, but we never talk about it. This is the first of many episodes where we talk about some of the social and relationship challenges we face.

If you'd like to reach out to Dr. Sousa, you can reach her at:

It’s our 50th episode! And to think that we met doing a webinar and now it’s been 2 years! Maria and Angela discuss what they’ve been up to – from holiday gatherings to cooking classes with Jeremiah. If you haven’t listened to Jeremiah’s podcast, listen here: https://soundcloud.com/our-portuguese-table/jeremiah-the-great-portuguese-american-baker

We also chat about some of the experimenting we’ve been doing with food – Alheira meatballs and Portuguese mac n’cheese. Maria’s Portuguese Table has been doing well – Maria’s been receiving calls from PBS all over the U.S., including Hawaii! Enjoy listening

Hi ladies! I really enjoy listening to you and wish these were on a regular basis but this year has been hard. I’m first generation and I can relate to everything you discuss. I am also trying to break the cycle with my kids. It is very hard at times dealing with elders that have been here for 45 years but still think the “old” way. XOXO

Wonderful Podcast!

If you are a foodie and Portuguese then this podcast is made for you! Really fills a void for the Portuguese culture experience that I and many other Portuguese Americans feel who do not live in Portuguese communities. When I first learned of the podcast, I loved it so much, I binge listened to the first 5 shows. I love the variety of people you interview and especially love to hear what part of Portugal they came from and all your fun foodie questions that you ask each guest. I look forward to every new show and hope you can continue the monthly schedule you had before. Thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart!
