Why Being Nervous is a PRIVILEGE

Why Being Nervous is a PRIVILEGE

“Nerves are your body’s way of expressing that you’re about to do something heroic.” —Scott Welle. One of the questions I get asked frequently is, “Do you still get nervous before speaking on stage?” The answer is YES. The day I stop getting nervous is the day I stop speaking. In this short solocast, I talk about why nerves are a PRIVILEGE and why you should embrace them…not shy away from them. It means you’re doing something right. Impactful. Worthwhile. That you’re on the path to Outperforming! Show notes can be found at https://scottwelle.com/being-nervous-is-a-privilege/. Robb Breding: Choosing a Better Path Forward

Robb Breding: Choosing a Better Path Forward

In this episode, Robb and I discuss his upbringing, the defining moment that put him on a better path, his phenomenal success in business and his thoughts on leadership. Show notes for this episode can be found at https://scottwelle.com/breding, you can visit Robb’s website at https://rev-advisors.com/ and connect with him on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/robbbreding/. Enjoy! Robb Breding has spent most of his life and career seeking to inspire people and organizations to be the very best they can be! He spent the first eleven years of his career receiving a world class education as an executive leader at a prominent fortune 500 retail company. Subsequently, he ventured to start his own retail company selling wireless phones and accessories. As president and CEO, he grew the business from a single store to over fifty locations, employing over 250 people across five states in just 10 years. Hit hard by the “Great Recession” of 2008, Breding fought back and successfully transitioned the business from direct distribution to a franchise-like model empowering entrepreneurs to own and operate their own wireless retail stores. After selling the wireless business in 2014, Robb’s wife, Pam was diagnosed with breast cancer. The cancer battle that ensued lasted over two years and together he and Pam fought not only the cancer, but also phenomena and heart failure caused by chemotherapy.  This life altering experience was a wakeup call for Breding and helped to solidify what has become his “WHY” in life. That is “To empower people to understand and fulfill their God given purpose!” Since then, Breding has founded REV Advisory Group to carry out this mission.

Breding is also an active member of his community serving on the local advisory board for Hope International; he commits his time, treasure and talent to his local church and various non-profits; and is currently the chair of his Rotary Club’s Leadership Development program. Robb and Pam have been married for over 34 years and together they have two beautiful daughters and two grandsons. The couple currently resides in the Minneapolis, Minnesota metro area.

“It can be human nature to want to chase the next shiny object but we cannot lose sight of the basic fundamentals and the things that actually got us to where we are.” —Scott Welle. The Key to High Performance: Making Your Bad Days...Less Bad?

The Key to High Performance: Making Your Bad Days...Less Bad?

“How we perform on those bad days is a much better indicator of how we’re going to perform long-term than taking those already good days and trying to make them great.” —Scott Welle. In this solocast, I discuss a counter-intuitive strategy for sustained high performance: making your bad days less bad. When we do this, it brings up our average level of performance while simultaneously building empowerment and self-confidence that we CAN still perform well…even on our bad days. Show notes can be found at https://scottwelle.com/bad-days. Be More...Pessimistic?

    Be More...Pessimistic?

“What Outperformers say to themselves is, ‘If I got through that, I can get through this. And if I did it before, I can do it again.’ That hardship and struggle gives them a reservoir of motivation and confidence and empowerment.” —Scott Welle. In this solocast, I share a recent clip from a virtual keynote for project managers in Toronto. An essential characteristic to Outperform personally and professionally is the ability to adapt and thrive through pressure, change, stress and adversity, and the clip details two strategies to help you do that by using “Reference Points” and being “Defensively Pessimistic.” Show notes can be found at https://scottwelle.com/be-pessimistic.
