    Jamal Richardson

An all-time chat with the respected basketball trainer for the likes of Brandon Miller and Darius Garland. X & IG: @jmrbasketball & #KPBLDG | https://etasportsandexposure.com/jmr-basketball | jmrbasketballtraining@gmail.com 3:46 Growing up with two parents who demonstrated hearts of giving. Jamal's dad was his only basketball trainer and both parents taught discipline, faith and the golden rule. 7:53 Jamal’s brother was miraculously born, yet diagnosed with Downes Syndrome. Jamal learned about being his brother’s keeper and eventually started an annual special needs basketball camp. 13:31 Transitioning from playing in college to a new chapter in life, coming of age in the midst of having a lack of discipline and focus on God. 18:51 On a routine night in the life, Jamal was pulled over for a DUI. Through mercy from a police officer, something he had experienced before, Jamal actually thanked them for saving his life and the life of another. This actually caused him to be proud of that moment in wanting to change. 27:10 After the arrest, God had to rid of Jamal's desire for approval of people with his public image tainted. He still was able to get around God’s plan, but close people were calling him out with love. Feelings of emptiness along with learning how to let go and getting sober from alcohol were brining Jamal into a new season. Noticing the change, his support system and even clients applauded the sincerity. 32:47 The pivot moment came after watching a YouTube video of an Uber driver witnessing for Christ, asking the riders where would they go if they died today. A sober-minded life created inertia for him to have more urgency in life and faith in Jesus, peace and the accountability of those close. 41:20 Jamal shares the dfference in his training today, being 'called' and how a person’s value is the new motivation, not the money they can earn from their talent. How he takes fare of time, gives glory to God and hates sin that prevents people from their best. 50:15 Jamal’s last word for the folks. Collin Murray

A very cool discussion with a baseball maverick on building a startup, the practicality of data analytics and earning a career in sports. https://www.athletelab.io/ | https://www.linkedin.com/company/athletelab/ *Originally recorded on August 22nd, 2024. 3:13 Collin pitched at McGill University in Canada and dealt with his shoulder not holding up. He then transferred to Elon University and attended the MLB Winter Meetings as a student. Collin was interviewed for a sales position with the Miami Marlins, but misinterpreted the sales pitch he had to prepare. His off-schedule confidence earned the job. 8:40 “Bringing it” as a college pitcher, first game jitters and getting cut every year from high school baseball provided Collin no shortage of reasons to stay motivated, up his throwing velocity and mental skills. 13:02 Collin learned through the circumstance of not playing that his value add could be bridging the gap between data analytics and on-field play. He learned to code baseball data from a friend during Covid and would spend 10-12 hours per day at his craft. His video analytics at Georgia Southern allowed him the opportunity to become an Assistant Pitching Coach for the Baltimore Orioles in Single-A. 22:48 Helping three ball players at Georgia Southern reach the pro ranks and constantly getting better as an analytics developer and communicator as a coach became hallmarks for Collin that he takes with him into his new position as the Pitching Coach for Siena College in New York. 28:17 Forging a unique career path created curiosity among younger individuals asking Collin how to have a career in sports. This unintentionally led to Athlete Lab which has had a high success rate in placing high-capacity individuals in pro sports. Go Long

Today we speak with the mayor of Go Long: Tyler Dunne. As a tenured longform American football journalist and broadcaster, Tyler sheds light on his family life balance, his stops with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Buffalo News, a viral article in 2019 when he was with Bleacher Report and his highly endorsed, yet unsung book about tight ends, The Blood and Guts. Join more than 21,000 others at golongtd.com (paid package includes exclusive content; free subscription available). | X & IG: @tydunne 3:13 Tyler gets into a little bit of his family life with the wife and children and his upbringing in Western New York. 6:30 Tyler hits on his desire to be a writer at a young age including drafting his own editions of an in-house publication called the Packer Weekly which he sold to his parents for $1 as a 4th and 5th grader. A couple years later, Tyler interviewed touted sports editor, Chuck Pollock (Olean Times Herald) which led to an internship under Chuck, immediately writing about the NBA and eventually going to Syracuse where Tyler learned the importance of reporting. 14:58 Tyler reflects on his time with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, working with Bob McGinn, Lori Nickel and Tom Silverstein and how a couple interviews with Forrest Gregg and Bart Starr grew his interest in creating longform content. 20:48 Tyler covers his first true beat reporting assignment eith the Green Bay Packers, right after their Super Bowl win in 2011 with Aaron Rodgers and how he was immediately "hunting down" Brett Favre for an in-depth interview which he was able to do in 2014, the same year Favre and the Packers reconciled. 25:59 Tyler touches on the similarities betwen the Buffalo Bills and the Green Bay Packers fanbases and franchises, his zealous piece, What Happened in Green Bay, which goes into the "riff" between Rodgers and Packers brass and also a 3-parter when the Bills were playing .500 football under Sean McDermott, and why both articles got major readership and backlash all the while. 31:53 Tyler gives his take on the classic offseason 'hope' of an NFL team. 39:11 Tyler lends his thoughts on how franchises try to win now yet plan for the future.
