88 - Playing it Safe is Killing your Brand

There's a word we've been using wrong. And it's been costing us. Professional. We've confused it with palatable. With inoffensive. With content so carefully neutral it could've been written by a committee of people who've never met you — and an audience that scrolls right past because nothing in it feels like it came from a living person. A recent Rolling Stone piece put a number on what I've been saying for years: 73% of people say their trust in a brand increases when it authentically reflects culture. Nearly three quarters of your potential clients are actively looking for something real. And most personal brands are out there publishing content so sanitised it's become invisible. In this episode, I'm using that article as a jumping-off point — and then I'm going somewhere the article doesn't. We're talking about the pattern that plays out slowly and invisibly when a founder trades her real voice for a market-safe version of it. The difference between voice clarity and performed authenticity — and why one converts and the other doesn't. The moment I stopped filtering myself and what actually changed when I did. And three specific, practical moves you can make this week to start building something that sounds like you and no one else. Because the only personal brand that can't be copied is the one that actually sounds like you. This one's for the woman who's been hiding behind professionalism as a reason not to fully show up. We're dismantling that today. 87: Anti-Beige Branding Isn't an Aesthetic. It's a Revenue Strategy.

You think anti‑beige branding is about using hot pink instead of beige? Cute. But you're missing the point. In this episode, I'm getting real about why "bold" isn't just a vibe – it's a business strategy. I'll show you how the right visual identity directly impacts your pricing, your client attraction, and your bottom line. Plus the specific ways beige is silently killing your revenue (and what to do about it). Yes, we'll talk about colour. But more importantly, we'll talk about cash. Topics covered: Why "pretty" without positioning is just decoration The 0.5‑second revenue test (and why you're probably failing it) How premium brands use bold to justify premium prices Real numbers: what happened when my clients went from beige to bold Listen now. 💰 You can find more about Gemini Creative On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/its.geminiloren Website: www.geminicreativestudio.com.au Join the Own Too Much Challenge: https://geminicreativestudio.com.au/challenge Want to be on podcast? 86: The Branding Industry Lied to You About What 'Professional' Means

"Be professional." You've heard it a thousand times. From bosses, from clients, from your own inner critic. But who actually decided what "professional" looks like? And why does it always mean smaller, quieter, beiger – for women? In this episode, I dismantle the myth of "professionalism" and call out the branding industry for selling you a cage disguised as a dress code. You'll learn why playing it safe is the riskiest thing you can do, and how to build a brand that's actually effective – not just "appropriate." Spoiler: It involves swearing, colour, opinions, and taking up space. Topics covered: The history of "professionalism" (and why it wasn't built for you)How the branding industry profits from your fearReal examples of "unprofessional" brands that dominateYour permission slip to stop playing smallListen now. 🔥 You can find more about Gemini Creative On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/its.geminiloren Website: www.geminicreativestudio.com.au Join the Own Too Much Challenge: https://geminicreativestudio.com.au/challenge Want to be on podcast? 85: Nobody Tells You That Building a Business Means Building Yourself First

You started a business to make money, be your own boss, maybe change the world. Nobody told you it would force you to stare into the mirror and deal with all the shit you've been hiding. In this episode, I get real about the identity work that happens before the logo, before the launch, before the first sale. The parts of you that get triggered. The stories you tell yourself. The "too much" you've been apologising for. Because here's the truth: your business won't outgrow you. If you're playing small, your business plays small. If you're hiding, your brand hides. This is the conversation nobody's having. Let's have it. Topics covered: Why identity work isn't "fluff" – it's strategy How your wounds show up in your pricing, visibility, and offers The moment I realised my business was a mirror Practical steps to start building yourself (so your brand can follow) Listen now. 🔥 You can find more about Gemini Creative On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/its.geminiloren Website: www.geminicreativestudio.com.au Join the Own Too Much Challenge: https://geminicreativestudio.com.au/challenge Want to be on podcast? 84: From Beige to Unbothered

You think your brand is stuck? Good. That's where I started too. In this episode, I tell the story nobody asked for: how I built a "successful" brand – waiting list, great clients, the whole shiny package – and then burned it all the f**k down. Why? Because I was beige. And beige was killing me. You'll hear the messy, vulnerable truth about playing small, performing "professional," and the moment I finally said "enough." If you've ever felt like your brand doesn't match who you actually are, this one's for you. Topics covered: The lie of "successful on paper" Why I kept softening my edges (and what it cost me) The exact moment I decided to burn it down What rose from the ashes (hint: Own Your Too Much) Listen now. 🔥 You can find more about Gemini Creative On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/its.geminiloren Website: www.geminicreativestudio.com.au Join the Own Too Much Challenge: https://geminicreativestudio.com.au/challenge Want to be on podcast? 83 - I pretended to start an OnlyFans. Here's what happened.

I did something bold on April Fools Day. I told the internet I was quitting branding to become a "mattress actress." The link in my bio went to a fake landing page. The engagement was insane. The DMs were chaotic. And I got zero sales. In this episode, I'm unpacking the whole experiment. What worked, what didn't, and why I'd do it again in a heartbeat. You'll learn: Why engagement doesn't always equal conversion The difference between a joke and a funnel How to take risks without burning your brand Why "failing boldly" is better than "succeeding quietly" If you've ever been scared to post something "too much," this one's for you. 81: The Lie of "Professionalism"

What if "professionalism" isn't the key to success—but the thing holding you back? In this episode, I'm dismantling the lie that's kept female entrepreneurs small, quiet, and forgettable for decades. We're talking about where "professionalism" came from (spoiler: it wasn't built for us), what it's costing you (money, energy, and your dream clients), and what actually works instead. If you've ever been told to "tone it down," "be more professional," or "soften your messaging," this episode is for you.
