Kalie and Jane have started a brilliant podcast about Al Pacino that at first glance, may cause the causal fan of Pacino (like myself) to wonder how 20 episodes (and counting) of a single podcast could cover a single actor’s filmography in an expansive and captivating way — however upon listening to the first episode the listener can immediately see how lush Al Pacino’s catalogue, performances, and career truly are. Jane and Kalie elicit a clear comfort with both podcasting and film, which makes their episodes perfect to listen to for fans of Pacino or film in general. Kalie and Jane also have a natural chemistry which allows them to weave from providing analysis on how the groundbreaking issues introduced Pacino’s films — such as trans representation, the criminal justice system, and societal inequities continue to resonate and make an impact today. These topics were rare to see portrayed with the vigor and passion of Pacino’s performances in the 70’s — and are still rare to see today. Which makes each of these podcasts engaging to listen to, reflect on, and binge through in an episodic fashion. Kalie and Jane never fail to give thought-provoking social commentary on these issues and have a way of weaving into hilarious back and forths during their episodes which speaks to their ability as podcasters and film-analysts. I want to give the highest possible recommendation to listening to the Pacino Pod — if you are a fan of Pacino, film, or are looking for a new podcast in general — you will absolutely love to listen.
