Packers Blitz Episode #134: Is Matt LaFleur on the Hot Seat? Packers Look to Bounce Back vs. Buccaneers

The Green Bay Packers are 1-2, and Packers fans are running out of patience. On Episode #134 of Packers Blitz, John and Andy break down the fallout from Green Bay's brutal 35-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons at Lambeau Field, question whether Matt LaFleur and his coaching staff can get this team back on track, examine the disastrous offensive line, and look ahead to a must-win matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And because Packers fans could use a laugh, John steps behind the podium for a very special "Matt LaFleur press conference." What would a typical Matt LaFleur press conference sound like after another ugly Packers loss? John takes his best shot at becoming LaFleur while Andy fires questions from some familiar—and increasingly frustrated—voices. Expect plenty of: 🏈 "We've got to look at the tape." 🏈 "We've got to fix our mistakes." 🏈 "We've got to get back to work." 🏈 And, of course, plenty of looking in the mirror. It's Packers therapy with a sense of humor. The guys turn serious and discuss whether LaFleur's biggest problem is his inability to get the Packers to consistently play up to—or beyond—their competition. After getting embarrassed by Atlanta, simply promising to "fix the mistakes" isn't enough anymore. John and Andy discuss whether Green Bay needs greater accountability from its players and coaches, whether changes need to be made on the coaching staff, and why LaFleur may eventually have to make some difficult decisions if the season continues going in the wrong direction. The numbers from Green Bay's start aren't pretty. The Packers surrendered 498 yards of offense against Atlanta, while their own running game has produced just 146 rushing yards through the first three games. Atlanta running back Bijan Robinson alone rushed for 194 yards, while Drake London added another 194 receiving yards. Meanwhile, protecting Jordan Love remains one of Green Bay's biggest problems. The Packers have responded by stockpiling offensive linemen, including veterans Kevin Zeitler, Laken Tomlinson and Mekhi Becton, as Green Bay desperately searches for a combination capable of protecting Love and creating a legitimate running game. There weren't many bright spots against Atlanta, but a couple of Packers earned recognition. Offense: Matthew GoldenGolden recorded his first regular-season touchdown and reached 100 receiving yards. Special Teams: Daniel WhelanWhelan averaged 50 yards per punt and put four of his five punts inside the 20-yard line. Defense:Yeah... we're moving on. John and Andy also check in on the rest of the division as Green Bay suddenly finds itself looking up at its NFC North rivals. The guys discuss the Minnesota Vikings' hot start, Detroit finding a way to survive against the Jets, Chicago winning despite being without Caleb Williams, and what the early standings mean for a Packers team that can't afford to fall much further behind. Next up: Tampa Bay. Both teams enter the matchup with serious problems, particularly along their offensive lines. For Green Bay, however, this game feels especially important. After being embarrassed at home, how will the Packers respond? Can Green Bay finally establish the run? Can the offensive line keep Jordan Love upright? Can the defense bounce back after allowing nearly 500 yards to Atlanta? And can Matt LaFleur get his team to play inspired football as the pressure mounts? Andy gives three reasons why he believes Green Bay gets the job done and predicts: Green Bay Packers 27Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13 It's time to find out what kind of football team the Packers really are. Join John and Andy for passionate Packers analysis, reactions, predictions, plenty of frustration, and the occasional therapy session for Green Bay fans. Go Pack Go! 🧀🏈

Packers Blitz - Episode #133 Ugly Jets Win, Lucas Van Ness Breakout & Packers vs. Falcons Preview

The Green Bay Packers are back in the win column — but it wasn’t pretty. On Episode #133 of Packers Blitz, John and Andy break down Green Bay’s wild 20–17 overtime victory over the New York Jets, a game that featured a fourth-quarter comeback, outstanding special teams, a strong defensive effort, and an offense that left plenty to be desired. The Packers erased a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit and snapped a six-game losing streak, but the performance raises a major question: Why does Green Bay continue to play down to its competition? John and Andy break down everything that went right — and plenty that went wrong — against New York. THE GOOD: Green Bay’s special teams finally looked special. Skyy Moore provided a huge spark in the return game, while the Packers defense made enough plays to keep the team alive. THE BAD: The offense struggled badly. Jordan Love finished 18-of-29 for 145 yards and two touchdowns, while Green Bay continued to struggle running the football and protecting its quarterback. THE DOWNRIGHT UGLY: Penalties. The Packers committed 18 penalties, continuing an alarming early-season trend that John and Andy believe has to be cleaned up immediately. They also discuss Matt LaFleur’s play calling, Green Bay’s tendency to repeatedly run on first down, offensive-line problems, injuries, and whether the Packers need to become much more aggressive offensively. There wasn’t much to celebrate offensively, but Lucas Van Ness delivered a monster performance on defense. Van Ness recorded six pressures, 1.5 sacks, four quarterback hits, 10 tackles, seven solo tackles and three tackles for loss while earning an 81.2 PFF grade. Then there was Skyy Moore. Moore exploded on special teams with a 63-yard punt return and 43-yard kickoff return, giving Green Bay the kind of field-position weapon Packers fans have been waiting to see. Could Moore become Green Bay’s next great return specialist? The Packers won, but John and Andy aren't letting the offense off the hook. They discuss: Jordan Love’s inconsistent performanceGreen Bay’s predictable first-down play callingThe struggling rushing attackOffensive-line injuriesMatt LaFleur’s offensive approachTurnovers and ball securityThe Packers’ mounting penalty problemWhether Green Bay lacks a killer instinctThe impact of injuries to key offensive playersA win is a win — but performances like this won’t be good enough against the NFL’s better teams. John and Andy also take their weekly trip around the NFC North to discuss what’s happening with the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears. From quarterback injuries to defensive concerns and early-season surprises, the division is already providing plenty to talk about. Next up: Thursday Night Football at Lambeau Field. The Atlanta Falcons visit the Green Bay Packers for a Week 3 matchup that John and Andy believe Green Bay should control. Atlanta enters the matchup struggling offensively, while quarterback Michael Penix Jr. returns to the lineup. The Falcons still have dangerous weapons, including Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts, meaning Green Bay can’t afford another sloppy performance. Atlanta’s defense also presents opportunities for Jordan Love and the Packers passing attack, particularly with cornerback A.J. Terrell unavailable. The message is simple: This needs to be Green Bay’s get-right game. Both John and Andy correctly predicted Green Bay’s first two results of the season, and they’re putting that undefeated prediction record on the line again. Andy’s Prediction: 🧀 Packers 27 🔥 Falcons 16 John’s Prediction: 🧀 Packers 31 🔥 Falcons 10 Both agree on one thing: Green Bay should win this game convincingly.

Packers Blitz Episode #132: Packers Collapse Against Vikings — Is It Time to Panic?

The Green Bay Packers are back and unfortunately, so are some painfully familiar problems. In Episode #132 of Packers Blitz, John and Andy break down Green Bay’s stunning 39–22 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, a game in which the Packers held a 22–10 lead before Minnesota took over. Green Bay was outscored 22–0 in the fourth quarter as another late-game collapse added to a losing streak stretching back to last season. So, what went wrong? The guys dig into Matt LaFleur’s coaching decisions, Green Bay’s inability to adjust to Brian Flores’ aggressive defense, the struggling offensive line, penalties, protection problems and the continuing question of whether this team knows how to finish games. The frustrating part? The Packers actually outgained Minnesota 419–239, while Jordan Love threw for 387 yards. Green Bay had opportunities to put the game away but couldn't turn its statistical advantage into a victory. John and Andy also hand out their Packers players of the game, including Christian Watson, before looking around the NFC North and discussing what the early results could mean for Green Bay. And yes, Lil Wayne enters the conversation. The Packers superfan had plenty to say following the Minnesota loss—and John and Andy have plenty to say about his reaction. Listener warning: this portion of the episode contains explicit language. The NFC North isn't slowing down either. The guys discuss the Bears’ explosive offensive performance, the Lions and the increasingly difficult road facing Green Bay inside the division. Finally, it's time to look ahead. Can Green Bay stop the bleeding against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium? Andy predicts a 27–17 Packers victory and believes this could finally be the game that ends the losing streak and starts a new one—the good kind. In This Episode Packers vs. Vikings reaction and game recap Green Bay's fourth-quarter collapse Matt LaFleur's coaching decisions Jordan Love and the Packers offense Green Bay's offensive line struggles Why the Packers couldn't finish the game Christian Watson's big performance Packers special teams Lil Wayne's NSFW reaction to the loss Bears and Lions discussion NFC North outlook Packers losing streak Packers vs. Jets preview and prediction Can Green Bay finally get back in the win column? The Packers are down, but John and Andy aren't abandoning ship. Being a fan means surviving the ugly losses along with celebrating the wins. Can Green Bay turn things around, or are these problems signs of something much bigger? Listen to Episode #132 of Packers Blitz and join the conversation. Packers Blitz Episode #131: Packers Roster Moves, Big Signings & Week 1 Vikings Preview

The preseason is over, the roster is set, and the 2026 Green Bay Packers season is finally here! On Episode #131 of Packers Blitz, John and Andy break down a wild stretch of Packers news before turning their attention to the Week 1 showdown against the Minnesota Vikings. There’s plenty to discuss — roster surprises, new additions, major questions on defense, the running back situation, and whether Jordan Love can carry the offense when Green Bay needs him most. The biggest concern heading into the season is the uncertainty surrounding Josh Jacobs. John and Andy discuss what his absence could mean for Green Bay's offense and why replacing one of the team's most important weapons won't be easy. With Jacobs potentially unavailable, the pressure shifts toward the rest of Green Bay's backfield — and especially Jordan Love. Green Bay hasn't stood still. John and Andy discuss the Packers' moves to strengthen the roster, including the addition of veteran tight end Jonnu Smith and the possibilities he could bring to Matt LaFleur's offense. Could Smith become a dangerous weapon on screens, underneath routes, and even jet-sweep concepts? The guys also break down Green Bay's trades and debate the decision to move quarterback Kyle McCord while adding depth at running back and tight end. Who deserved to make the team? Who was the biggest surprise? And where are the Packers still dangerously thin? John and Andy go position by position through Green Bay's final 53-man roster and examine the strengths and weaknesses heading into the regular season. One area remains a major concern: the secondary. The Packers made some surprising decisions at cornerback, including moving on from Damani Jackson, while John remains concerned about whether Green Bay has enough talent and depth on the back end of the defense. The Packers may have talent, but John and Andy aren't convinced everything is going to click immediately. The potential reliance on softer zone coverage raises concerns that Green Bay will allow opponents to move the football underneath consistently. That's particularly dangerous considering who's waiting in Week 1. It's Packers-Vikings to open the season. John and Andy break down the biggest Minnesota players Green Bay needs to worry about, including Justin Jefferson, Kyler Murray, Blake Cashman, Jalen Redmond, Andrew Van Ginkel, Brian O'Neill and Christian Darrisaw. Then they turn the tables and rank the Packers players who could have the biggest impact on Green Bay's season. Jordan Love sits at the center of the conversation. John believes Love has to become the difference-maker for this team. With Josh Jacobs unavailable, the Packers may have little choice but to put even more responsibility on their quarterback and let him take control of the offense. Don't expect homer predictions from Packers Blitz. Despite being die-hard Packers fans, both John and Andy pick Minnesota to win Week 1. Andy: Vikings 27, Packers 23 Andy believes Green Bay's defensive concerns, playing at U.S. Bank Stadium, and the absence of key Packers players could be too much to overcome. John: Vikings 28, Packers 20 John's biggest concern is the secondary. He expects Minnesota's passing weapons to create serious matchup problems if Green Bay's defense isn't ready. Can the Packers prove them wrong? John and Andy discuss the Josh Jacobs situation, Green Bay's latest roster moves and trades, Jonnu Smith's potential role, the final 53-man roster, concerns about the secondary and defensive scheme, the top Packers and Vikings players to watch, Jordan Love's importance to the offense, and their Week 1 Packers-Vikings predictions. Packers Blitz delivers Green Bay Packers football from the perspective of two die-hard fans who aren't afraid to criticize their favorite team when they think something isn't right. No sugarcoating. No corporate talking points. Just Packers

Packers Blitz Episode #129 Green Bay Packers Season Preview, Key Players & NFL Predictions

The Packers Blitz Podcast is back, and John and Andy are ready to talk Green Bay Packers football. With the 2026 NFL season approaching, the guys break down what has to happen for the Packers to bounce back from a disappointing finish to 2025. Injuries devastated Green Bay down the stretch last season, and staying healthy is once again one of the biggest concerns entering the new year. Can Jordan Love take the next step? Can the Packers defense finally create more turnovers? Which offensive and defensive players are absolutely critical to Green Bay's success? And can the Packers survive until Micah Parsons returns? John and Andy debate all of it — and then make their predictions for the NFC North, NFL playoffs, conference championship games, and Super Bowl. What has to change for Green Bay to become a legitimate contender? The conversation starts with three major priorities: Stay healthy. Injuries to Micah Parsons, Tucker Kraft, and other key players helped derail the Packers' 2025 season.Create turnovers. Green Bay needs a more aggressive, opportunistic defense capable of getting the football back to Jordan Love and the offense.Jordan Love must deliver. The excuses are over. If Green Bay wants to compete for a championship, Love may need to perform like one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks.John adds another major concern: the Packers need to own the fourth quarter. After watching Green Bay struggle to close games, the Packers need to develop the killer instinct necessary to finish opponents when the game is on the line. Beyond Jordan Love and Micah Parsons, which Packers are the most difficult to replace? John and Andy break down several players whose performances could determine Green Bay's season, including: Offense Christian WatsonSean RhyanJordan MorganMarShawn LloydJosh JacobsMatthew GoldenTucker KraftDefense Edgerrin CooperDevonte WyattLucas Van NessBaron SorrellXavier McKinneyEvan WilliamsThe Packers need young players to develop quickly while established veterans stay healthy and produce. The secondary could be particularly important. Xavier McKinney remains one of Green Bay's defensive leaders, while Evan Williams has an opportunity to develop alongside him into a potentially dangerous safety combination. Green Bay's defense could look very different in 2026. John discusses what fans might expect from the new defensive system, including exotic blitz packages, disguised pressure, safety blitzes, corner blitzes and unconventional coverage looks. The goal is simple: Pressure the quarterback. Create turnovers. Get off the field. If Green Bay can accomplish those things consistently, the Packers offense should have considerably more opportunities to put points on the board. The NFC North could once again be one of the NFL's toughest divisions — and John and Andy don't completely agree on how it will finish. Andy predicts the Chicago Bears will win the division, followed closely by Detroit, with Green Bay finishing third at 9–8. He believes the Packers have a path to 10–7 and a Wild Card spot, but injuries, roster turnover and a new defensive system create major questions. John is more optimistic. And yes — John has the Packers sneaking into the playoffs at 10–7 as the seventh seed. The guys go beyond Green Bay and make predictions across the NFL, including: AFC and NFC division winnersWild Card teamsPlayoff contendersNFC Championship predictionsAFC Championship predictionsSuper Bowl matchupSuper Bowl championOne particularly bold prediction? Kansas City misses the playoffs. When it comes to the NFC Championship, both John and Andy ultimately see the Los Angeles Rams reaching the Super Bowl, although they disagree about who they'll defeat to get there. And the Super Bowl prediction? Super Bowl Champion: Los Angeles Rams Listen to the latest episode of Packers Blitz and join John and Andy for Green Bay Packers talk, predictions, debate and plenty of brutally passionate Packers fan therapy.
