    Letters to Herself

    This episode of Parting is a little shorter than usual; that's because we wanted to focus in on one topic in particular...memory. When we talk about grief it's usually about things that have happened in the past, but sometimes we can grieve over the present. Dementia is a disease that affects memory, and losing memory can sometimes be harder than losing someone.  We will speak to Lyn, a psychology professor, about how we can understand dementia and improve the quality of life with this disease. Later, we will continue "The Unteachables" (Part Two) storyline as a year 9 student and his Nan consider life without trees.  Advisory- This episode contains some swear words and some of them are unbeeped.     A Lesson to Us All

    Usually in our podcasts, each episode has different kinds of stories – usually short stories  … some of them fictional and some of them more like the conversation that you've just been listening to. But today we're doing something different. The fictional story in this episode is called "The Unteachables" and it's just the beginning of a long yarn that will go over the next 5 or 6 episodes. Today we have two stories for you: Story 1: Bereavement - a conversation with Bianka: The Bereavement Counsellor and Coordinator for our Local Health District.     Not Afraid

    We're frightened of death.  We don't see it as part of life. We don't want to talk about it. We want to put it in another room and lock it away. In this podcast series we are going to open the door of the locked room and have a bit of a look around. And in  today’s episode, which is titled Not afraid, we are going to give you a bunch of different kinds of stories that will get us thinking about what death is... and if we talk about it... we might find it makes it a little less scary...
