    My Weight Is No Longer The Headline

    Send us Fan Mail For years, my weight—and how I thought I looked—wasn’t just a number. It was the headline of my life. It influenced my mood, my confidence, my decisions, and even my sense of worth. I know what it’s like to live with food noise. For me, it wasn’t overeating—it was starving myself. I know body dysmorphia, the need for control, and the constant mental negotiation around food. It’s exhausting. In this episode, I’m sharing my journey through disordered eating, the need for control, and how my relationship with food, my body, and the scale has evolved over the years. We’ll also talk about something I never expected: how starting a GLP-1 medication changed the constant mental chatter. The number on the scale didn’t disappear, but it stopped being the centre of every conversation I had with myself. This isn’t an episode about chasing a certain weight. It’s about making space for a fuller life. Because somewhere along the way, something shifted. My weight is still part of my story. It’s just no longer the headline.     When Your Child Doesn’t Fit the System: Lessons From Our Family’s Journey

    Send us Fan Mail This week, during my cancer follow-up, I was reminded of the reason I started podcasting in the first place. It was said in a new way that I hadn’t heard before, but it truly resonated with me. “Make your mess your message.” Yes, I often speak about this. The universe is always speaking to us, and my message is often to use my story and my daughters’ story to spread awareness. Sometimes, I go a little silent and forget what I set out to do, like waiting a month between each podcast when my intent was weekly. But then I get another nudge to speak out. The doctor said, “Not everyone needs to hear it, but someone is meant to,” and it reminded me that I’ve said similar things. “Even if one person got something out of what I said, then I did what I came to do.” Thank you, Universe, for yet another little nudge. Of course, it came right at a time when we’re all going through a lot. My husband is a man of few words, and as we sat having a little cry with my daughter, he said, “It feels heavy right now.” Those are some of the times when I hold back, but I also know that someone will need the vulnerability because they’re going through something similar. This podcast is for people who don’t fit in with society’s standards, people who love someone or suffer with anxiety, people living with illness or medical trauma, families who are trying to create a life that caters to them, people navigating IEPs or learning disabilities, and the school system. And so much more. In true Shalea fashion, we go all over the place!     What I Hope My Daughters Remember When I’m Not There

    Send us Fan Mail Will I ever be back to a podcast recording weekly, or starting a podcast without saying "it has ben so long" ? - I wonder this as I record yet another podcast after waiting too long.. January was super intentional. Daily movement and new calendar full of all the things I did.  February was sickness, tiredness, a new medication and a gap on the calendar.  We didn't have to start over ( no more all or nothing ) but more of an intentional healing time while giving grace and no judgement.  This allowed me to hop back in to finish February and to roll in to March building myself back up.  Continue where I left off.  I didn't start over.. there was no mistake...life by design, baby - do what you can when you can do it, rest when you need to - don't look back on yesterday.  Period.    This brought me to the topic of how I used to be from a young age ( all or nothing ) and what my take is on how I raise my girls through life.   Once children get to a certain age, I believe it's time to take step back and let them make more choices.  I don't want to be overly strict to just have my child be one way around me and then be a different human when I'm not looking.  If I am always telling them what they have to do, it doesn't leave a lot of space for them to figure out their way. That to me is a child who is controlled over being authentically them making choices ( aka: learning / failing forward )  Obviously we have to parent and there are things we have to step in for... but we have been teaching ( instilling our ways and morals ) for many years .     The Power of Glimmers: Choosing Hope Every Day

    Send us Fan Mail It has been a hot minute since I have been here. I actually recorded a podcast during the holidays that got ERASED when I tried to edit a part.  It's very rare that I edit or omit anything I say.  I actually just roll with whatever comes to me, but that podcast there was one slight thing I decided not to say.  Somehow, the whole thing vanished.  I guess it wasn't meant to be.   However, it then caused a long pause between podcasts.   Kind of my theme of the New Year tho, to be honest.  Slow, pauses, remove anything that doesn't align.   I read something about being in your 40s ( and living until your in your 80's ) which leaves a whole other lifetime to be lived.   This got me so excited.  This next chapter is going to be by design.  The healed version of me.  The version of me that has learnt so many lessons.  The version of me that know how to find glimmers in the hard, ordinary and mundane.   I GET to apply all of that to my new "updated" lifetime.   I would never erase the first half.  I have such a beautiful life/story full of all the experiences to bring me to this point.  Even the hard offers so much beauty, in A LEARNING KIND OF WAY.  Join me in this episode full of 2025/2026 talk, new lifetime, glimmers, hope... and a rambled sort of pep talk ;) Join me over on Instagram for daily inspiration and motivation!  www.instagram.com/passionate.on.purpose

    Protect Your Peace (And Don’t Let Anyone Dim Your Light)

    Send us Fan Mail Remember the saying....Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.....  I remember using this to stick up to kids that were mean.  Reality is, words do hurt.  An un-healed version of me just got that reality check.   I'm a queen at hiding the hard away in little boxes.  Only pulling it out when I fully feel I'm ready to feel.   Big lesson: When too much piles up, the smallest things can break you.   Reminder to myself: Tucking it away doesn't make it disappear.  Don't be so busy pushing away, that you forget to heal through what you go through.  Life is full of seasons and it is up to us to heal, clear out the old, refuel and find our light....over and over again.   Join me over on Instagram for daily inspiration and motivation!  www.instagram.com/passionate.on.purpose

    Your Body Keeps the Score…Now What?

    Send us Fan Mail You guys, we can pile up all of our problems until the pile is just so impossible that we crash.  What if you worked on resetting everyday?  Would the problems go away? No.  But do some stay back there?  Yes!  So if we reset every day and start new, there definitely will be some problems that don't make the cut.  They don't make the list.  They don't deserve any more attention.  They stay behind us.  Stop giving some things more space then they deserve.  Rent ain't cheap!!! It cost's happiness and so many other things.   What if we make everything we think of have monetary value...Can you afford it?   Or what if you have something terrible happen and not a lot of time left, is that what you would choose to bring forward?  Is it worth the value? Does it deserve to take up space? Some things do.  They are big enough to make it through, even when you reset every day.  Often,  still needing more healing.  But eventually as you do the work, they too can stay behind when you reset daily.   I had the most amazing session, body work we could call it.  I realized even more how much my body is talking to me.  A protective layer I have created.  Maybe not feeling fully safe.  A defence mechanism.  Our mind can be so strong, yet our body could be telling a story.   My biggest goal right now: Mastering what I can leave behind when I reset every day.  Mastering where I need to dig deeper.  Just because my mind is so healed ( after so much work ) doesn't mean my body has released.  You are your longest commitment, you deserve to heal!     Healing After Trauma: The Work No One Talks About

Sometimes we can get stuck in a certain life or timeline and can't push through our hard (even while using all the tools and therapy) but sometimes an even bigger storm comes and pushes us to a new level. Cancer is awakening me to a new level. My daughter seizure is pushing her past her fears.  The very things that have brought trauma to our lives are both hard and a blessing.   What if all along me saying the Universe is always working for us, is actually true.  Your higher power may allow you to ride storms, but you are also brought through them and maybe there is even more light on the other side.   What if your hard is your blessing? What if this is the turning point in your life? What if YOU are missing the key to the other side?
