Outsider Insights: COMIC BOOKS

In an episode that we definitely thought was scheduled to publish on time than didn't, the boys start off discussing their shortcomings as to the challenge they issued each other in Episode 4. This expands into some talk about critical race theory, Watchmen, and Heavy by Kiese Laymon before we get into the actually comic book talk. As the conversation gets going, Caleb talks about how comic books came into his life in middle school, how he grew up liking a different Flash than is on TV, and Aqua Lad. When Sawyer brings up getting a detention because he once said "Superman: Red Son" in Spanish class, the boys have a version of the stereotypical "Heath Ledger WAS Joker" conversation. For the quiz, Caleb attempts to trick Sawyer with some obscure comic book titles in hopes that he can't guess what they're about. Recorded July 11, 2020

Victor Dandridge, Jr.

Tess Talbot

Tess Talbot (Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, Wildfire, Inconceivable) is a Cincinnati based actress with a BFA in Acting from Wright State University. In today's episode, Tess sits down with Sawyer to talk about her WalMart scarf, clawing her way to the top, and how she always knew that what she wanted to do for a living. The two revisit the positive memories she has of theatre as a child, and after Sawyer gets distracted by her cats, Tess talks about her infatuation with Prince, which segues into a discussion about her time on the set of Extremely Wicked. To round out the episode, Sawyer challenges Tess to name her favorite performance to date, and she advises her past self to "relax". Anna Naderer

Anna Naderer is an Event Manager and a graduate of University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Stage Management program. A lifelong friend of Sawyer's, the two discuss the similarities between the food industry and the world of theatre, the role of the stage manager during a production, and how she shifted from a childhood focused on STEM to work in the arts. Anna takes a moment to advocate for the importance of theatre and the arts in schools, after which she maps out exactly how she became a member of the Monster Jamily. To round out episode, Sawyer makes Anna his guinea pig in answering two questions that he hopes to ask all guests moving forward. Rachel Glynn

Rachel Glynn is a member of Wright State University's Department of Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures Class of 2019. On May 4, 2019, she will graduate with a BFA in Acting, with a Musical Theatre Concentration and a minor in History. Rachel sits down with Sawyer to discuss her decision to begin using a stage name, The Promise Land, and being a cool wine Mom. After Sawyer brings up her graduation, Rachel shares a few thoughts on her good friend Sam Maxwell, and gives some insight as to why she chose history as her back up plan, and talks in detail about her approach to formulating a character's backstory.
