Adam Roberts from www.45-rpm.co.uk treated us to some truly classic music, blending Jazz Funk, Boogie & Street Soul in splendid form.

Adam’s a dance music insider, with a distinctive ear for collecting soulful tunes with heart & integrity.

His curated record store of quality 45-rpm, serves up the finest Funk, Jazz, Soul & Disco re-issues on vinyl. As he puts it: More of a delicatessen than a supermarket.

Some of his notable music moments include; 1990’s club night at London’s Bar Rumba. Pioneering the whole DJ-in-bars culture in Birmingham with his residency in the Arcadian. Importing records at Greyhound distribution. Selling records as head buyer at Juno. Doing loads & loads of bar gigs. And the ability to DJ faultlessly, after 15 pints!

Recorded at Penelope, my latest vinyl DJ mix is a soulful journey through the golden era of Street Soul, 80s UK Pop, early 90s RnB, Hip Hop, and Acid Jazz. This set is pure fire.

While sifting through my brother's record collection, I stumbled upon a trove of B-side gems that have withstood the test of time. Standouts include CJ Mackintosh's captivating remix of Wycliffe's 'Heaven' and DJ Pogo's jazz-infused rendition of Carlene Anderson's 'True Spirit.' Transporting me back to the days of playing tunes in my bedroom, I never imagined sharing them beyond those walls. Sharing these tracks at Penelope was truly special, and I'm excited to hand it over to all of you.

The Extra Normal record label boss, has monthly radio shows on Repeater, Tak Tent and locally, on Margate Radio.

His festival Contrapop, has taken place in summertime on main Sands Ramsgate. Featuring a program of artists, placed between the intersection of pop and the avant-garde. It’s been a rare opportunity to absorb the cutting edge of the musical underground in a stunning seaside setting.

We’re looking forward to another banger from Lumpen!

Featuring, Deep & Soulful Clubby sounds, played on vinyl, from the Penelope booth.

Kojay holds residencies on Rinse FM & Balamii & can be found bringing the energy to the city’s underground clubs, from Hackney to Peckham.

The Don aka Don Innis, was part of the 1990’s Birmingham Garage movement, a serious collector & selector of the finest US House Imports, regularly found playing at Newington Green’s Hifi Bar, System.

Both with strong roots in all things soulful, thier session of new & classic Deep House / USA Garage, that made the Penelope subwoofer shake.
