Our conversation runs the gamut from Hell on Earth to finding a little hope along the way. Naomi writes about family connections, church connections, lasting damage and the healing power of the environment. Naomi Ulsted writes fiction and non-fiction. She’s the author of the YA novel The Apology Box (2021), which was runner-up in the Indies Today contest and a finalist in the Next Generation Indies Book Award contest. Her memoir, A Bouquet of Weeds: Growing Up Wild in the Pacific Northwest, is forthcoming from High Frequency Press. She’s been published in The Nomad, Rumpus, and The New Guard, among others. If you didn't like this movie, you won't like this episode, because our hosts were all in. If you haven't seen this movie, it's a beautiful rendering of American mythology and folk horror and we highly recommend it. It's genre film with depth and broad appeal, a well told story with layers of history and American experience.
