The students of USC have such interesting life stories. Whether it be their upbringings, side hustles, internships, or aspirations, every person has a narrative that's worth sharing. So this podcast — which is an extension of SPEC magazine, a student-run fashion, lifestyle, culture, and wellness publication at USC — was made in an effort to capture those unique perspectives and, for a minute, see the world through the eyes of USC's most innovative thinkers. Hosted by Chloe Kopsky, she sits down with an array of students and navigates their life stories through honest, engaging conversation.

    Fill Your Tank - Miranda McKeon

    In the season finale of perSPECtive season 3, Chloe sits down again with Miranda Mckeon; except this time they chat all things Fill Your Tank. Fill Your Tank is a deck of conversation cards made to foster connections between friends and strangers. Miranda founded this company after she and her high school friends would ask each other “road trip questions.” After falling in love with the conversations these questions prompted as well as connecting on a deeper level, she decided to create a whole company dedicated to inspiring this for others. Besides the company’s backstory and mission, Miranda also discusses the process of building a company with intention and how she plans to scale the business with future decks, products, and events.     Photographer & Start-up Co-Founder — Mia McCarthy

    In the 6th episode of the season, Mia McCarthy joins Chloe to talk about her career as a photographer and startup co-founder. Initially getting her start in high school, Mia quickly started defining her unique visual identity through her work — and people in the industry took notice. At just 15 years old she signed with IMG Models Worldwide as a photographer. Once a USC student she started freelance working on an array of projects from product shoots to more editorial-style work. She set her photography aside when she went on to co-found Handle — a venture-backed food delivery service (listen to our episode with the past CGO of Handle HERE to learn more).     In episode 5 of season 3 of perSPECtive, Chloe chats with Nick Hensel and Ian Brash; the CEO and CTO of Pickle. Pickle’s software enables talent agencies to transform their talent’s data into compelling presentations and helps them land more brand deals. They are primarily focused on the creator economy but are starting to work with more traditional talent, like actresses, athletes, and artists. During her 2020 gap year, she founded Sophisticated Spreads: an LA-based charcuterie board company specializing in cheeseboard boxes that are delivered to your doorstep as well as large grazing table events. Leveraging social media and a “launch quickly, adapt later” mindset she has been able to scale the business to found new products, serve countless 60+ people events, and even make boards for celebrities such as Jessica Alba and Sophia Vergara.
