Escaping the cycle of poverty



Despite being born into an immigrant family with little resources in under-privelaged, inner-city communities, I was the first to graduate go to college and get out of "the hood" and become a successful businessman and family man. I broke the cycle of poverty for my future generations and give back by inspiring others to pursue their dream life with my podcast "The Wayfinder Show". 

After building a wildly successful real estate investment empire in Baltimore, MD during my 20s, I lost it all during the 80/09 housing collapse. My kids were 1 and 3 years old at the time and we lost our home and had to start all over. 

We did so in Colorado where I took a step back to learn more about business by pursuing an MBA and focusing on being a good father and husband. The I founded  a boutique real estate firm in Denver, CO called Pioneer Group Realty. 

Along the way, I also got into long-distance running which taught me so much about what it takes to be successful, helped me build an amazing community of friends, and took me all over the world. I recently earned my sixth star of the World Marathon Majors. 

I believe I can bring a lot of value to podcast audiences that want to hear about business, real estate, running, self-development, and growth mindset.

Biography

Dr. Janet McMordie is a Sport & Exercise Medicine Physician with specialty training in Women's Sexual Health. She completed medical school, family medicine residency, and sport medicine fellowship at McMaster University.  She holds a diploma in Sports Medicine from the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM).  She is a member of the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health.

She is frequently asked to be the team physician for some of Canada's top sport organizations and was recently the Chief Medical officer for Team Canada's sport delegation to the Winter Universiade in Lake Placid and travelled with Team Canada to the Para Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile.

Outside of medicine, Janet is an actor, stunt performer, and podcast host. Her podcast, Second Act Actors, celebrates individuals who changed careers into acting later in life and just celebrated its second birthday! She is an avid kayaker, an Irish flute player, and a plodder (read: very slow runner).

ABOUT J. V. HILLIARD

Born of steel, fire and black wind, J.V. Hilliard was raised as a highlander in the foothills of a once-great mountain chain on the confluence of the three mighty rivers that forged his realm’s wealth and power for generations.

His father, a peasant twerg, toiled away in industries of honest labor and instilled in him a work ethic that would shape his destiny. His mother, a local healer, cared for his elders and his warrior uncle, who helped to raise him during his formative years. His genius brother, whose wizardly prowess allowed him to master the art of the abacus and his own quill, trained with him for battles on fields of green and sheets of ice.

Hilliard’s earliest education took place in his warrior uncle’s tower, where he learned his first words. HIs uncle helped him to learn the basics of life—and, most importantly, creative writing.

Hilliard’s training and education readied him to lift a quill that would scribe the tale of the realm of Warminster, filled with brave knights, harrowing adventure and legendary struggles. He lives in the city of silver cups, hypocycloids and golden triangles with his wife, a ranger of the diamond. They built their castle not far into the countryside, guarded by his own two horsehounds, Thor and MacLeod, and resides there to this day.
