Physics in Life

Barbara

Why can’t we let go of certain people? Why does change feel so difficult, even when everything points towards it? Physics in Life uses the language of physics to help us see human experiences more clearly - relationships, emotions, personal growth, decisions, and the patterns behind them. Each episode explores one physical model - such as resonance, tension, or pressure - and uses a real-life story to reveal what it can show us about ourselves. No advice. No diagnoses. No esotericism. Just a new and clearer perspective for greater self-reflection and orientation. With Barbara.

What happens when you look at your life the way physics looks at the world? Physics in Life uses the language and the models of physics to understand human experience more clearly. Not to reduce life to formulas, but to find orientation in complexity – and to tell the difference between what is actually happening and the story we tell ourselves about it. What happens when you look at your life the way physics looks at the world? I'm Barbara, and this is Physics in Life – the podcast that uses the language and the models of physics to understand human experience more clearly. Someone says just one sentence, and days later you are still thinking about it. We tell ourselves stories about moments like these: He hurt me. She is someone really special. I'm just not disciplined enough. But what if we set the stories aside for a moment? Physics has one strength that we often lose in everyday life: it looks at what is actually happening – before any interpretation, before any drama. Resonance. Tension. Inertia. Coupling. Words from a physics class – and at the same time surprisingly precise descriptions of what happens between people, and of what happens within us. In every episode, we take one of these ideas and follow it back and forth between physics and life. You'll leave with a handful of insights, a few questions worth sitting with – and one blind spot: something that was there all along, and that you may never unsee. And maybe, at some point, there is that one moment when you think: Oh. That is what is actually happening here. I'm so glad you're here. This is Physics in Life.
