Then it got really busy. Now in the twilight of his career, Craig looks back on four Olympic Teams, academic appointments, headlining international conferences, several major changes in professional direction, retiring then unretiring and his current job description is as a 'Freelance Physiotherapist'. Upon completion of his Sports Masters post-graduate program at the University of Queensland in Brisbane Seif took a leap of faith with a move to Copenhagen (Denmark) where he quickly had to find his feet in a completely new environment & country. Seif finally reaped the benefits of this move by securing contracts with FC Copenhagen and the ATP Tour shortly after his move to Europe. He has just completed 6 years at FC Copenhagen in 2020 as the Long Term Injury & Sports Performance Physiotherapist and continues to work with the ATP as a Sports Physiotherapist on the Men's Professional Tennis Circuit around the world. He is also a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist as awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists. Dr O’Leary’s combined academic and clinical track record underpins his conjoint UQ/RBWH appointment. His service to health is broad, spanning the supervision of clinical research (clinician-initiated, research higher degree, honours, coursework masters), clinical education and mentoring across all levels of the physiotherapy profession (undergraduate, postgraduate, professional development, and specialisation), with a particular interest and role in developing clinician-scientist career pathways in Australian public health. Dr O’Leary also serves as a councillor and senior examiner for the Australian College of Physiotherapists, and is the Chair of the college's Fellowships Program Standing Committee. In this conversation with Harry we also learn; * what Harry recommends to be a successful mentor * why he would ease up on himself if he could do it all again * where he would like to see Physiotherapy heading in the next 5 years Biography Harry Truong FACP is a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist (as awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists 2021) and is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy (Musculoskeletal) at the University of South Australia.  He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from UniSA in 2007  and completed his post-graduate Masters in Musculoskeletal and Sports & Exercise Physiotherapy from the University of South Australia in 2011. He is also an APA Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist and has previously worked as one of the physiotherapists at Adelaide United Football Club in the Hyundai A-league (2012-2016) including their successful 2016 season winning both league and grand final titles. He is one of only three Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists in South Australia, and still consults clinically, providing second opinion consultations and management of complex, persistent musculoskeletal pain. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Physiotherapists and is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Musculoskeletal National Group and Sports & Exercise National Group. Craig in a past life danced with the Australian Ballet for 10 years, and one of his experiences in Turkey caused him to link sports medicine and the performing arts. Craig has since been involved with Liverpool FC, the San Francisco 49ers, Riverdance and most of the AFL clubs in Australia. The link? Clinical Pilates injury prevention and/or rehabilitation.  Craig talks about; his early days being a male dancer in SAthe axe murderers & goat herders of Instabul in EDdeveloping a business in pilates equipment design and manufacture big picture Physiotherapy and the potential  involvement in health reformBiography Craig started his career as a professional dancer with the Australian Ballet, where he developed what was to become a lifelong interest in Pilates. After graduating from physiotherapy in 1987 and receiving special project grants from the Australia Council, Craig undertook further training in the USA and UK returning to establish the first Pilates clinic in Australia within a major sports medicine clinic, Prahran Sports Medicine in Melbourne. He developed a leading reputation with major stage and touring shows such as Cameron Mackintosh, Riverdance, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and Melbourne Theatre Company, to name but a few as one of the first to manage performers as high-level athletes. He served 9 years on the Board of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science working closely with international performing arts medicine specialists. He continues to work with Olympic medal winners, Institutes of Sports, English Premier League, Australian and British Defence Forces and has overseen published master's and doctoral research projects in Australian, New Zealand and UK universities. The effectiveness and popularity of this treatment method led Craig to establish training for other physiotherapists. He continues to lecture and present extensively worldwide, to date has trained over 10,000 physiotherapists in Clinical Pilates. For the majority of his childhood and adolescence, he participated in a wide range of sports including ice hockey, baseball, and track and field. His true passion was for hockey and he competed successfully at the highest levels for his age into his teenage years. After successfully completing high school, Steve went on to attend Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology and a second major degree in Geography. While completing these degrees he also played hockey for WLU and competed in regional and state-level ‘body-to-weight’ powerlifting competitions. For the next two years, Steve utilized his skills as an Exercise Physiologist, Personal Trainer and qualified strength and conditioning coach to help elite level athletes excel in their chosen sports. At the age of 26, Steve accepted an offer to attend Curtin University in Western Australia to undertake a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy, which he completed in 2000. Steve’s unique skill set allowed him to offer a holistic approach to his clients that often focused on health, nutrition, movement, hands-on therapy, and performance-driven outcomes. During the first six years of practice, Steve also worked as a senior lecturer at the Australian Institute of Fitness speaking on a range of subjects including nutrition, strength and sports conditioning, and rehabilitation. After the successful completion of his physiotherapy degree in 2000, Steve resumed his competitive sporting career by participating in Inline Hockey. After noticing that the creams and lotions he used on his elite athletes were hampering their performance, he decided to look into what he could do to change the game. He conducted research into the area, gathered insights from his athletes and made himself an expert in the science of skincare in sport.
