    America at 250: Christian Nation, Masonic Project, or Both?

    Was America founded as a Christian nation, a secular republic, a Masonic project — or something more complicated? In this special America at 250 Independence Day episode of Pilgrims Grey Chronicles, we examine the real historical evidence behind America’s founding, the Declaration of Independence, the First Continental Congress prayer, George Washington, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, Freemasonry, Deism, the Treaty of Paris, state constitutions, biblical law, and the debate over Christian nationalism. Modern media, universities, atheists, and secular progressives often claim America was not founded on Christian principles “in any sense.” But what happens when we actually read the founding documents? The Declaration of Independence appeals to the Creator, the Supreme Judge of the world, and divine Providence. The First Continental Congress prayed in the name and merits of Jesus Christ. The Treaty of Paris opened in the name of the Most Holy and Undivided Trinity. John Adams said the principles of independence were the general principles of Christianity. George Washington said religion and morality were indispensable supports of political prosperity. But this episode does not stop with easy patriotism. Cain has a wife. Cain fears others will kill him. Cain later builds a city. So where did all these other people come from? Some argue that Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 describe two separate creations of humans — a group of “Day Six people” outside Adam and Eve, and then Adam later formed in the garden. But does Genesis actually require that? Or does the Bible give us a simpler answer? We walk through Genesis 1–5, the 130-year window before Seth, Adam’s unnamed sons and daughters, Eve as the mother of all living, Cain’s fear, Cain’s wife, Cain’s city, the Gap Theory question, and the New Testament teaching that all humanity is one family under Adam. We also answer common objections from the comment section, including: Who was Cain afraid of? Did Cain marry his sister? Could Adam and Eve have had children before the fall? Would pre-fall children have been affected by sin? Are Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 two different human creation accounts? Where did the different nations and peoples come from? Does the Gap Theory require another race of humans? The main argument is simple: Genesis does not need a hidden second humanity to explain Cain’s wife.
