"I Want Success, But in a Manageable Dose": The Reality of Growing a Business as a Mom

What happens when the side hustle you started to pay off your student loans suddenly takes off faster than you ever expected? In this episode of The Mompreneur Collective, I sit down with Megan Carrier, founder of Mac Designs & Co., to talk about her journey from teaching herself how to make graphic tees and bleaching shirts in her driveway to designing her own clothing line and working with a manufacturer. In 2023, one of Megan’s Mardi Gras shirts went viral and suddenly she was producing more than 1,000 shirts in 45 days with one Cricut, working into the early morning hours and learning in real time how quickly exciting growth can become overwhelming. Megan shares what that experience taught her about boundaries, sustainable growth and why she now says, “I want success, but I want it in a manageable dose.” We unpack what she really means by that. Including her struggles with perfectionism, delegating, and allowing other people to help as her business grows. We also talk about how motherhood changed the direction of her business, the reality behind what successful entrepreneurship can look like on social media, and why so many moms are simply figuring it out as they go. Megan gets candid about the financial and emotional realities of building your own brand, the freedom entrepreneurship has given her to be present with her family, and the fear that can come with taking the next big step in business. Her candid advice to the mom sitting at home wondering if she’s qualified, organized or ready enough to pursue her idea? “Wing it, sis.” This conversation is your reminder that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. Sometimes you take the risk, learn as you go, and build the business (and life) you want along the way.💛 Shop Now! If Something Happened to You Tomorrow, Would Your Family be Prepared?: Estate Planning for Moms

What would happen to your children, your money, your belongings, and even your business if something happened to you tomorrow? In this episode of The Mompreneur Collective, I sit down with Attorney Eleanor Dolev, Owner of Dolev Law. She specializes in estates and trusts and talks to us about a part of planning for the future that so many of us put off: creating an estate plan. Eleanor walks us through some of the basics parents and business owners should have in place, including wills, trusts, and power of attorney documents. We also dive into why your estate plan and your business plan need to be part of the same conversation. As entrepreneurs, we spend years building businesses we hope will create opportunity, freedom, and maybe even a legacy for our children. Protecting what we've built matters too. We talk about the question every parent should consider: Do you want to leave your children with a burden or leave them with a gift?✨ We also discuss the false sense of security that can come from DIY legal documents, why one missing piece of language can have major consequences, and why an estate plan should be created around your unique family, goals, assets, and circumstances. And because this is The Mompreneur Collective, we of course talk about balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship too. Eleanor shares how she's found ways to involve her children in her business, teach them responsibility and leadership, and create more opportunities to be together while continuing to build a career she loves. If estate planning has been sitting on your "I'll get to it eventually" list, this episode may be the push you need to finally start the conversation.💛 DolevLaw.com Follow Dolev Law on Instagram Thank you for listening. 17 Years In the Making: What It Really Takes to Bring an Idea to Life

What happens when an idea you had as an exhausted, overstimulated mom refuses to leave you alone for 17 years? In this episode of The Mompreneur Collective, I sit down with Amanda Romero, the founder of Tusharoo, a portable toddler chair born from a problem she experienced firsthand as a mom. When her son was just nine months old, she couldn't find anything that would safely keep her very active little one seated, so she decided to create the solution herself. What followed was a 17 year journey from idea to patent to prototype to finally launching Tusharoo in May 2026. She takes us behind the scenes of what it really takes to bring a physical product to market. From utility patents, engineers, prototypes and million dollar manufacturing costs to failed production runs, supply chain setbacks during COVID, and moments when quitting felt incredibly tempting. Through it all, she became an expert at something every entrepreneur eventually has to learn: figuring out the next thing she didn't know how to do. We also talk about the naysayers who didn't believe in her idea, raising three children while building a company, knowing when to slow down, resisting the pressure to have a huge launch, and making intentional decisions that allowed her family to remain a priority throughout the process. Today, her vision for Tusharoo reaches far beyond one product. She hopes to create products that support children and families with different needs, build a company where moms can work while still being present for their children, and create a workplace that truly feels like family. If you've been sitting on an idea, questioning whether you've waited too long, or wondering if you have what it takes to figure out everything that comes with building something of your own, this conversation is a powerful reminder: keep going. The Side Hustle Season Won’t Last Forever: How She Built a Million Dollar Business that Gives Her Freedom

What does it really take to turn a side hustle into a million dollar business and eventually create the freedom you started a business for in the first place? In this episode of The Mompreneur Collective, I sit down with the mompreneur behind Bella Vista Painting & Drywall, Ashley Ortiz, to talk about her journey from working a full time job while building a painting business after hours with her husband to growing a successful company generating more than $1 million a year. With three kids and a mortgage, quitting her 9–5 and blindly hoping for the best wasn't an option. Instead, she built the business alongside her day job until she reached the point where doing both was no longer sustainable and she realized the biggest thing standing between her and going all in on her business was one uncomfortable conversation with her boss. We talk about what happened next: hiring a business coach, learning to delegate, creating systems, building a team, navigating entrepreneurship with your spouse, overcoming imposter syndrome in a male-dominated industry, setting boundaries with clients, and learning not to take every piece of criticism personally. We also get into something many entrepreneurs need to hear: the beginning of your business doesn't have to look like the rest of your business. There may be a season of late nights, sacrifice, and feeling like you're drowning...but with the right support, systems, and team, you can build a business that gives you more freedom instead of just creating another job for yourself. If you're a mom building a side hustle, wondering when it's time to leave your 9–5, struggling to let go of control, or dreaming of creating a business that supports your family and your life, this conversation is for you. The Physical Toll of Motherhood: What Every Mom Should Know About Pelvic Floor Health

If you've ever been told that leaking when you laugh, lingering aches, painful intercourse, or simply "not feeling like yourself" after having a baby is just part of motherhood...this episode is for you. This week, I'm joined by pelvic floor physical therapist and owner of Louisiana Pelvic Health, Dr.Melissa Thompson, for an eye opening conversation about the physical toll motherhood takes on our bodies and why so many women are silently suffering with issues that they don't have to just deal with. Melissa shares her own journey of searching for answers to unresolved pain, how discovering pelvic floor physical therapy completely changed her life, and why it ultimately inspired her to build a practice dedicated to helping women find relief. In this episode, we talk about: • What the pelvic floor actually does and why it matters • Common symptoms that are often dismissed as "normal" after pregnancy and childbirth • Why kegels aren't always the answer (and can sometimes make things worse) • How breathing, movement, and individualized treatment can make a huge difference • The surprising connection between constipation and pelvic floor dysfunction • My own experience as one of Melissa's patients and the improvements I've already seen with my rib flare and pelvic floor related symptoms Melissa also opens up about learning to let go of perfectionism, creating healthier time boundaries, and accepting that success sometimes looks different in different seasons of motherhood. Whether you're a new mom, years postpartum, or simply wondering if the symptoms you've been living with are actually treatable, this conversation is your reminder that you don't have to be part of the "wounded moms club." We talked about what it takes to build a successful, sustainable business. From trusting your intuition and your numbers to protecting your time, energy, and values, this conversation is full of practical wisdom for mompreneurs who want to grow intentionally.  We dive into why staying connected to your "why" matters, how to evaluate opportunities that seem to look good on paper, the importance of choosing the right people to build with, and why sometimes the most successful and powerful decision is saying no.  Whether you're just starting your business or you're at that point where you're ready to scale, this episode is a reminder that sustainable success isn't about chasing every opportunity. Regulation Over Relaxation: The Stress Management Shift Every Mom Needs

As busy moms and entrepreneurs, we're constantly told to "just relax" or "take a day for yourself." But true stress management isn't about escaping your life, it's about becoming more resilient within it.✨ In this episode of The Mompreneur Collective, I sit down with Kimberly Thibeaux, Owner of Brain Injury Nurses of Acadiana, to unpack what nervous system regulation really means and why its one of the most important skills every mompreneur can develop.  Together, we explore why regulation doesn't always mean slowing down, it means learning how to respond to stress in the way your body actually needs. Sometimes that looks like rest and other times it looks like movement, deep breathing, stepping outside for fresh air, or a simple therapeutic pause.  We also discuss:  What it actually means to feel overstimulated as a mom and what to do when you get thereThe difference between down-regulating and up-regulating your nervous systemWhy three diaphragmatic breaths can literally signal safety to your brainHow to recognize your own stress signals before it's too late The different types of rest (physical, mental, emotional, sensory, and social) and how to know which one you need Why scrolling, avoidance, and other "quick fixes" often leave us feeling even more depletedSimple, practical ways to regulate your nervous system that don't require a spa day or hours of free timeIf you've ever felt like you're living in survival mode, constantly giving to everyone around you while you're running on empty, this conversation will leave you feeling seen, understood, and equipped with practical tools you can start using today.  Because the goal isn't to eliminate stress all together... its to build the resilience to move through it with greater awareness, intention, and grace. 💛 Connect/Follow/Learn More About Guest: BINAcadiana.com Follow BINAcadiana on Instagram Follow Brain Injury Nurses of Acadiana on Facebook Thank you for listening. Why Every Mom Needs a Village: Birth, Postpartum, & Building a Support System

In this episode of The Mompreneur Collective, I sit down with Dr. Alayna Clark, Owner of Birth Acadiana Chiropractic, and Host of the Birth Acadiana Podcast, for an honest conversation about birth, postpartum recovery, motherhood, and what it really takes to build a business that supports your life. We share our own birth stories and the unexpected challenges that followed; From preeclampsia, C-sections, episiotomies, and breastfeeding struggles to difficult postpartum recoveries and the physical healing aspect of it that many moms aren't prepared for. We laugh about how even the best birth plans(even the laminated ones😆) don't always go as expected and why preparing for multiple possibilities matters. We explore the importance of preparing not just for labor, but for postpartum too. We talk about the wealth of resources available to support moms and babies, the power of education in helping women feel informed and empowered, and how understanding your options can completely transform your birth experience(like it did for me💛). Beyond birth and postpartum, our conversation expands into the realities of mompreneur life. We discuss mom guilt, burnout, building trust in others, and the importance of creating a support system that allows you to thrive. We also talk about redefining success, making intentional choices that align with your values, and letting go of the belief that you should be able to do it all alone. Success Looks Different In Every Season

Motherhood & entrepreneurship both require us to constantly evolve. The challenge is learning how to embrace the season we're in instead of comparing ourselves to who we used to be. In this episode of The Mompreneur Collective, I sit down with Owner of Collab Beauty Lounge, Taylor Credeur, to talk about the many seasons of motherhood and how they've shaped her business journey. From building her business with one child to leading a thriving team while raising two children, she shares how her priorities, schedule, leadership style, and definition of success have shifted over time.  We discuss the sacrifices that sometimes come with choosing presence over productivity, why every season requires something different from us, and the importance of giving ourselves grace as our lives and businesses evolve. We also dive into delegation, building a supportive team, creating systems that support your family, setting boundaries, and the reality that moms were never meant to do it all alone.  This conversation is a reminder that growth doesn't always have to feel like expansion...sometimes growth looks like slowing down, adjusting your expectations, and honoring what matters most right now.  If you're navigating a season of change, feeling stretched between motherhood and business, or wondering how to balance ambition with presence, this episode is for you.  Because the season you're in wont last forever and neither will the version of you that's moving through it. 💛 Connect with Guest/Support Their Business: Follow Collab Beauty Lounge on Instagram Follow Collab Beauty Lounge on Facebook Book a Service with Collab Beauty Lounge Thank you for listening. We dive into how their shared love of needlepointing started as a hobby and eventually grew into a thriving business. We also get into why not every hobby needs to become a business. Sometimes a hobby’s greatest value is the joy, peace, and balance it brings into your life. We chat about:  Why hobbies are productive (even if they don’t make money)  How having something you love helps you stay connected to yourself throughout your motherhood journey The impact hobbies have on your mental health, nervous system, and overall  balance What it’s like to run a business with a friend Why you don't need more time to fit a hobby into your life And how leaning into a positive “This WILL work out” mindset helped them take bold, fast action on a business idea that felt aligned with their passion This conversation is about more than hobbies though, it’s about connection, creativity, and giving yourself permission to unplug in a world that constantly tells you to stay busy. We also talk about how hobbies can open doors to friendships, opportunities, and even unexpected business ideas.✨ If you’ve ever felt like you don’t have time for a hobby, or you’ve been stuck in the mindset that every moment needs to be productive, this episode will offer a refreshing perspective and maybe inspire you to pick something back up that lights you up inside.🩷 Links to The Little Needlepoint Shop: TheLittleNeedlepointShop.com Follow on Instagram Follow on Facebook Thank you for listening. We talk about why keeping self care simple is often the most powerful choice, especially when it comes to skin care and how using products where every ingredient serves a purpose can completely change how you show up...your image, your presence, and your confidence.  But this episode goes far beyond skin.  We also dive into doing the hard things, trusting your intuition, and making aligned choices that consistently open the right doors for you. We even share empowering stories from our labor experiences and how doing that really hard thing has given us so much confidence and belief in ourselves in all areas of life. ✨ This episode is for the woman who wants:  Simpler, more intentional self care that makes an impactTo make aligned business decisions she can stand behindAnd to be reminded that doing the hard thing often leads to the most powerful growth. If you've been craving permission to simplify, trust yourself, and move forward in alignment...this conversation is for you. 💛 MythosApothecary.com Book Your Appointment at Mythos Spa Follow Mythos Spa & Wellness on Instagram Thank you for listening. You Don't Have to Have it All Figured Out: Authenticity, Adaptability, & Mindset

You don't have to have it all figured out to have a successful business (or two)...and motherhood will make sure you learn that real quick. In this first episode of The Mompreneur Collective, I'm having an honest conversation with fellow mompreneur Lauren Suire; owner of The Cajun Table in Lafayette,LA and owner of LA Hope Properties, about what it really takes to grow businesses while raising kids. We talk about why adaptability is a must in entrepreneurship and how embracing the fact that not everything will go your way and choosing to stay positive anyway can actually create more success. What we dive into: Why both motherhood and entrepreneurship force you to adaptHow mindset & positivity impact long term success How cultivating friendships is the key to not losing yourself in motherhoodHow choosing to believe in your vision will take you farHow to organize your days so you can balance it all The freedom that comes from embracing your authenticity instead of aiming for perfectionIf you're a mom building a business and constantly wondering if you're "doing it right", this episode is your reminder that success doesnt come from having everything figured out. It comes from being willing to adjust, grow, and keep going. Press play if you're craving real conversations, encouragement, and permission to evolve as both a mama and an entrepreneur.
