Podunk Perspective #69 - Trey Lewis

Hosted By Seth Packan Shot in Nashville, TN. Produced by Nolan Sritan Photo. Trey Lewis          With a pair of homegrown hits and plenty more in the tank, Sony Music Publishing singer/songwriter Trey Lewis has emerged as the straight-talking, salt-of-the-earth hero country music fans crave. Known for breaking the genre’s unspoken rules, the Birmingham, Alabama native has spent the last 12 years honing a gritty blend of contemporary country and Southern rock, turning his call-it-like-I-see-it attitude into songs. After his 2X PLATINUM-certified breakout smash, “Dicked Down In Dallas,” went viral in 2020, the unapologetic cheating anthem climbed to No. 1 on iTunes and has amassed over 500 million streams to date. Launching him as a nationwide force, Lewis followed it with another self-made iTunes No. 1, the back-in-the-saddle anthem “Single Again.” Pairing country horsepower with refreshing honesty and a troubadour’s wit, his unfiltered approach runs throughout his catalog of bold, humorous songs built for pure enjoyment – music that resonates because it doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. Now, that reputation continues to grow as the bigger picture comes into focus. A perennial underdog and relentless road warrior, Lewis showcases his knack for unfiltered, tongue-in-cheek songwriting with his latest releases "Hanks Hurtin' Too," "Without Saying A Word" and “Two Inches" - a “toe-tapping and stomach-cramping comedy croon” that “bounces like a summer Alan Jackson cut” (Country Central). With every song, Lewis proves country music could use more bold, fearless storytellers who know how to have a good time without taking themselves too seriously.  Keeping his foot on the gas, the rising star maintains a stacked tour schedule while preparing even more new music. Podunk Perspective #64 - Cole Greenwalt

Hosted By Seth Packan Shot in Nashville, TN. Produced by Nolan Sritan Photo. Cole Greenwalt            Cole Greenwalt is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter with roots as deep and gritty as his music. Born and raised in Muhlenberg County, KY — the same soil that produced John Prine and the Everly Brothers — he writes songs that celebrate resilience, heartbreak, and the fight to stay afloat. His sound blends Americana, outlaw country, and folk-rock in the vein of Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, and Koe Wetzel. Music Marble called it perfectly: "Greenwalt's country drawl and raspiness fit perfectly into this sound." After "More Like 32" connected with working-class fans across Kentucky and beyond, "Alcoholic" crossed 220,000 streams and turned heads — Uphere Magazine calling it "so raw, so loud, and achingly honest — maybe his best yet." His latest, "Light It Up," is the other side of that coin. A high-energy country rock anthem recorded live as a full band at Treasure Isle, it's built for loud rooms and late nights — the kind of song that sounds even better when you're living it. Cole has shared stages with Kelsey Hart, Jon Wayne Hatfield, and Chase McDaniel, co-founded the Nashville songwriter series Neon Outpost, and hosts his own music festival back home in Kentucky. He's just getting started. Podunk Perspective #63 - Jagger Whitaker

Hosted By Seth Packan Shot in Nashville, TN. Produced by Nolan Sritan Photo. Jagger Whitaker              Drawn to music from an early age due to his father’s strong belief & encouragement, country music artist Jagger Whitaker began his musical journey behind a drum kit. He learned to play the drums alongside his dad, who worked tirelessly to spark a flame of inspiration for a young Jagger to explore music. Jagger’s father would often bring guitars back from work trips & gift them to Jagger with the hope that he would one day begin to play. That day came upon his father’s passing when Jagger was only ten years old. The realization of the depth of his father’s belief in Jagger was his motivation to chase the dreams his dad had envisioned. By watching YouTube & learning basic chords, Jagger wrote his first song “See You in Heaven” as a tribute to his father. Having cut his teeth leading worship in his youth group, Jagger began to feel at home on stage & develop his authentic stage presence. He then began his collegiate career at the University of South Alabama, where he rocked stages in local Mobile, AL bars. These performances continued feeding Jagger’s passion for live shows & furthered his fanbase. The Mississippi-native has concocted a unique sound blending the contemporary Nashville sound with old-school rock ‘n’ roll. Having opened for country music acts, like Tyler Farr & Jon Langstan, Jagger is based out of Nashville, Tennessee & actively recording his original music. Jagger’s hopes are to bring audiences of all kind together.
