This week on Pop Girls, Larisha and Hannah discuss Doja Cat's new album, Planet Her, and what it means for her as an artist going forward. They also discuss Dr. Luke's work on the album, the first under his own name in years following Kesha's allegations against him. Welcome to Pop Girls; The Return of Lorde and 2014 Nostalgia

Welcome to Pop Girls; The Return of Lorde and 2014 Nostalgia

Welcome to Pop Girls! In their first episode, Hannah and Larisha break down Lorde's new single "Solar Power," discuss their conceptions of Lorde as an artist and consider how they want to consume music transitioning out of the pandemic. *This episode was recorded before Lorde announced that her album will be dropping August 20. Yay!* They also reflect on the most formative years for their music taste, 2013-2014, and the Internet culture surrounding that music after seeing the recent trend of nostalgia for the era.

This is our first episode and we're learning as we go! There are some points where the audio will be at the mercy of choppy WiFi, but we hope to smooth things out going forward. Thank you so much for listening, we hope you enjoy!

Top shelf pop discourse!

Two very sharp and fun music writers talking pop and clearly enjoying each other’s company. Great mix of critical thought and personal perspectives and enthusiasm. Warm, engaging, enlightening. This is just out the gate and I’m looking forward to having a new regular listen.
