Posting Through It

It’s really good to hear this and also quite amazing how you all manage not to acknowledge racism toward Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color as the historic stumbling block in the area. When talking about “the civil rights aspect” and “the more working class aspect” and communities in that state having been beneficiaries of Great Society Programs they weren’t interested in “Civil Rights.” The origins of the “labor movement” these folks think they love are in slave revolts. The historic failure of labor unions from within was not just the Reagan era union busting but the unrepentant racism from within. Whew. This is how people who even mean well are allowed to continue to stay stupid, rationalizing and normalizing casual racism with catastrophic consequences that lead to the stories the author is telling. Even while talking about confederate flags. Wild. Disappointing and at this point just not surprising. It’s like that in every single predominantly white learning institution most of us have been in: Selective humanism.

I very much enjoy listening to Jared and Mike. The quality of their conversations has only improved with time. I hope they never stop doing the show. When they inevitably do I promise to take it personally.
