    #105 Department of Injustice | OOTP 7, The Ministry of Magic

    Potter Revisited Episode #105 Department of Injustice AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 7 "The Ministry of Magic" Harry is trying to get ready for his important hearing and the portrait in his room is laughing at him getting dressed Couldn't they have found Harry a better outfit for his important hearing or better prepare him? We get a small hint to Scrimgeour, who plays a big role in HBP Harry's original hearing was just supposed to be him and Amelia Bones - crazy how it escalates Harry commutes the muggle way with Arthur to the ministry which brings back some great and not great commuting memories  Shay wonders if the telephone box entrance to the Ministry is too close to Doctor Who   Harry internally judging the Ministry's appearance and location when he just sees the scummy street and telephone box is great  Shay feels Harry should donate the money first to get good karma for his hearing  Mr Weasley's interactions with other members of the ministry do a great job at showing the kind of person he is - he is friendly and knows lots of people from many different departments  We debate why Eric the Security Guard seems to want to hold Harry back  Would you take a slide if it was at your office?  Are you able to demand replies from the ministry memos like Harry uses Hedwig to demand responses to his letters?  We get a small glimpse into the Aurror department  Arthur's department office really shows the lack of respect the Ministry has for it and muggle relations in general  Shay wonders if Arthur is really qualified for his job despite his passion for it  Harry's meeting place and time gets changed at the last minute - Fudge has it out for him. This wouldn't fly IRL There is also a small introduction of Bode who comes into play later in OOTP Harry is shocked that he is supposed to attend the hearing alone - shouldn't he have some kind of advocate as he is a minor?     Potter Revisited Episode #104 His Family Tree is a Circle AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 6 "The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black" Molly tries to send the kids to bed and put a stop to them talking about the Voldemort info dump they just got  Shay thinks the portraits in the bedrooms that can speak and see you are creepy The twins apparating on Ron's knees is such a funny image  Fred thinking the weapon Sirius mention would be kept at Hogwarts is a strong theory  Love that George recognizes how powerful Ginny is - we are really starting to develop her character  Is Harry's odd dream about weapons as creatures PTSD from the skrewts?  Sirius is keeping Buckbeak in his mother's old room- we love a petty king  There is some forced politeness between Molly and Sirius after their confrontation from last night - makes it a bit awkward  Molly is using Gilderoy Lockhart's book for getting rid of the doxies - does she know he was a fraud?  Fred and George fill Harry in on their joke shop plans which have taken off quite a bit since the end of GoF George fits a lot of stuff in his pockets - how are we still battling small pockets for women in 2026?     Potter Revisited Episode #103 Family Dinner AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 5 "The Order of the Phoenix" This feels like a true family dinner  Turns out this creepy house belongs to Sirius as he is the last Black alive Shay discusses the layout of Grimmauld Place and how it shows the class level of Sirius' family  Harry and Sirius are finally reunited and both seem to be angry with Dumbledore  Shout Out to Greenland!  We agree with Molly, no smoking at the dinner table Mundungus  Does Sirius feel a camaraderie with Mundugus?  We see another side to Sirius - he seems more bitter and reckless than GoF Sirius  Sirius and Snape are still at odds - that forced handshake can't undo years of loathing, Dumbledore  The Twins are obsessed with saving time with magic  Harry is finally given the opportunity to ask some questions  Molly and Sirius have some real tension  Thank God Lupin is around to defuse the situation between Molly and Sirius Shay thinks it was irresponsible for James and Lily to name just Sirius Godfather of Harry Is Molly upset because Sirius has the "authority" over Harry's wellbeing since he is Godfather  Fudge is a true evil politician  The weapon being the prophecy - should Harry have been aware of this earlier so it couldn't be used against him?  Is Molly struggling with the lack of control?     Potter Revisited Episode #102 House Hunters International AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 4 "Number 12, Grimmauld Place" Please forgive Tori's voice as she is getting over the flu We are back to discussing OOTP in 2026! We finally get our introduction to Grimmauld Place The way access to Grimmauld place is revealed to Harry seems similar to the magic of the Room of Requirement at Hogwarts Grimmauld Place definitely gives of some particular vibes which Shay discusses as if we are in an episode of House Hunters International  Shay loves hallways and closed living  Mrs Weasley seems stressed CAPS LOCK Harry makes an appearance  Is Harry really angry at Ron and Hermione, or just taking out his anger on them?  Ron and Hermione are good friends to allow Harry to take his anger out on them and not hold it against him  The Twins can apparate now and have great instincts on defusing the tension Harry brings  Ginny also appears and interacts quite normally with Harry for the first time  We are looking forward to Ginny's transition from younger sister to an actual character  Bill is a highly respected older sibling  Fred spills the tea about Bill and Fleur  Both Bill and Charlie have joined the order to help find and recruit members, but what about Percy?  Percy had a catastrophic falling out with Mr Weasley and his family - has this been building for a while?  We understand Percy was wrong about Dumbledore and Harry, however we sympathize with him on his family not respecting or valuing his interests/ambitions  Does Percy's high ambition stem from his father not having more (according to Percy) and him viewing that as a character flaw? Does Percy have some jealousy on how Harry fits into his family compared to himself?  Harry is being slandered in the press again Would Sirius actually allow Snape to stay for dinner?  We are introduced to Sirius' mother in the form of a screaming lifesize portrait that cannot be removed. Terrible person, but we respect the level of pettiness.  We are looking forward to the next few chapters set in Grimmauld place!     #101 Dumbledore, You Egotistical Nut | OOTP 3, The Advanced Guard

    Potter Revisited Episode #101 Dumbledore, You Egotistical Nut AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 3 "The Advanced Guard" This chapter is a lot more exposition and transitional than the previous two chapters that had lots of action and foreshadowing  Shay does not approve of how rude Harry is to Hedwig  Hedwig is the true MVP though  Harry is really going through the symptoms of bad mental health right now  Moody as Lupin ask Harry a question he would only know - we decide to ask each other the same  The advanced guard has come to spring Harry free with some familiar faces - Lupin and Moody - and some new faces  It interesting the way this real Mad Eye Moody is reintroduced to Harry and the readers - they don't really focus on it too much  Lupin is back and we are so excited  We are introduced to Nymphadora Tonks who we are also very excited about  Tonk's rouse to lure the Dursley's away from the house was genius. We discuss other ways it could have been done  Quite a large group came to pick Harry up - was that wise?  It was smart to include Lupin in the guard as Harry actually knows and trusts Lupin, but was everyone else necessary? Although at this point, Harry probably would have left with anyone  It is great having a mid-twenties character like Tonks in the mix, as most characters in the series so far are adults or children Tonks reveals to Harry she is a Metamorphmagus and can change her appearance at will - we wish more lore was included about this We love how nosy the team is, looking through Petunia's kitchen  It is decided that the best course of transportation is flying to headquarters - does this really seem like the most logical route? Shay and Tori debate if using a broom should count as Harry using magic  It doesn't seem too much thought went into this and it is just a plot device to get Harry to Number 12 Grimmauld Place  They just land in the middle of a muggle courtyard in London and no one notices?  Moody has Dumbledore's Deluminator - is this foreshadowing to this being important in DH?  Dumbledore - as secret keeper - wrote down the location of headquarters - isn't that risky?     Potter Revisited Episode #100 Even In a Fantasy World, The Legal System Still Sucks AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 2 "A Peck of Owls" We 100 Episodes! Thank you all for listening! It is revealed that Mrs Figg is actually a Squib who has been watching over Harry for Dumbledore  What is the deal with Mrs Figgs cats? Can she communicate with them?  Dudley is such a brat Squibs are so isolated from the Wizarding World  Why did Dumbledore not want Harry to know Mrs Figg new about magic once he was older? Dudley really changes between OOTP and DH for how he treats Harry Why does the first letter Harry receives from the Ministry say he is expelled from school, they are coming to destroy his wand, but tells him to also come for a disciplinary meeting later  Signing off "hope you are well" to such a terrible letter is savage The Ministry is showing to be corrupt, not allowing due process for Harry  Were certain death eaters in the Ministry influencing trying to get Harry's wand destroyed for Voldemort? Interesting to compare Harry in PoA thinking he is being arrested and planning to run away, and now in OOTP probably would be arrested and planning to run away  Sirius and Arthur Weasleys letters are mostly the same, but impose a different reaction from Harry  Harry needs to hire a lawyer What did Dudley experience during the dementor attack?  Petunia references "that awful boy" which is fun foreshadowing to Snape and Lily's friendship reveal in DH Should the Dursley's have been informed that Voldemort had returned? Harry and Petunia share an interesting moment when she becomes vulnerable about Voldemort's return Vernon wants to through Harry out, but Petunia receives a Howler What did Dumbledore write in his letter to Petunia?     Potter Revisited Episode #99 The Roast of Ickle Diddykins AKA Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 1 "Dudley Demented" CW: Discussion of Suicide, PTSD We are starting OOTP! And we are almost at 100 Episodes! Tori discusses some OOTP book facts including an alternate death for Sirius and Mr Weasley potentially being killed  Tori and Shay discuss their memories reading this book  Did Taylor Swift write Father Figure for Arthur Weasley? (Note this was recorded before the release of TLOAS) Tori found OOTP a bit hard to relate to at 11 years old but is looking forward to revisiting it as an adult  This is the first book that doesn't overly recap Harry's experiences in the first chapter  Is it a red flag that Dudley doesn't know who the prime minister is?  Sassy Harry is still here and we are so thankful  Mrs Figg is back  Harry being left to deal with the trauma from GOF with little support is hard to read but also more relatable as an adult  Why is Hermione at Headquarters with Ron?
