Shanika P. Carter, Principal Consultant of The Write Flow & Vibe, LLC, is a freelance writer, author, and adjunct communications instructor. Through The Write Flow & Vibe, Shanika primarily provides writing, editing, and content development services to a variety of clientele, including fellow authors, but she also provides career consulting, workshops, and résumé assistance to individuals, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and companies. In her spare time, Shanika loves to travel and shop, and she loves music and movies (especially horror movies!). A native of Muskegon Heights, Michigan, Shanika is a graduate of both Michigan State University and Grand Valley State University, and proudly professes her affiliations with her fellow Muskegon Heights Tigers, MSU Spartans, GVSU Lakers, and Sorors of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Kari Porter is an Associate Director of Communications Strategist at Scout, a creative communications agency working with purpose-driven brands. In this role, she works with startups and challenger brands in human and planetary health, travel, CPG, and more, leading communications and media relations strategies. Kari is an expert communicator and strategist with success launching companies, positioning startup founders as thought leaders, and placing features in outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Tech Crunch, and Cosmopolitan. Before Scout Lab, she worked at a full-service agency in Kansas City with B2B clients in agriculture, animal health, and manufacturing. Kari is a published writer on topics including LGBTQ+ representation and communications strategy and an advocate for survivors of intimate partner violence. She also serves as a mentor with StartOut, advising LGBTQ+ startup founders on their communications and marketing. While born and raised in the Midwest, Kari is currently traveling the country with her physical therapist partner and their two dogs.
